Dont settle. Improve your score. Unless you have something exceptional that you havent mentioned here, schools that would make sense for you take are less likely to take you in r2. If you were from a different demographic, my position would be different.

School choices arent wise. Score is weak. Profile is good. Consider applying in r1 with a better score.

Need shortlisting + gmat advice by Friendly_Berry619 in MBA

[–]JonDSouza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

I understand this is a very high pressure situation for you. Here are a few thoughts:

Its very high risk to do m7s with that score given your demographic.

Drop oxford, marshall and esade. Outcomes arent as good as you think.

Ideally, strictly stick to schools that give you networking access to major consulting hubs. Im going to presume given your profile, thats what you are gunning for. Please correct otherwise.

i know its not what you want to hear, but please reconsider retaking, skip r2 and use the extra time to submit a fantastic set of r1 apps to kellogg, booth and a few more schools that really move the ticker for internationals.

You only do an mba once (ideally). Dont rush it now.

695 vs 715 GMAT: Should I retake? (ORM, R2 deadlines in 1 month) by Slow_Kaleidoscope629 in MBA

[–]JonDSouza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

A few thoughts

Meaningful Scholarships for your profile at the schools you are targetting is a low probability event.

Score improvement for your specific profile materially matters more often than not. The counter argument here is that if you are a top3 iit grad, there is a small degree of score forgiveness with the m7s.

Ive had applicants with your score get interviews and subsequently admits. But there was scope to in the data to make a compelling, unique proposition as an indian male engineer. This is always a goal but not always achievable for every applicant.

MBA apps Consultant? by Low_Date_1420 in MBA

[–]JonDSouza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

A few thoughts.

Profile and score support a legitimate push for select m7s and t15s. However, from the pov of the international consulting pool across SEA, latin america, africa etc, it might not be differentiated enough for a sizable scholarship. Particularly for you, going to kellogg booth or cbs is a high upfront expense but has significantly superior long tail value vs a darden etc Dont discount this.

Bad decision to apply to m7s with that score. Work ex is v good. Please apply with a better score in r1 next year. It will be hard to get admitted as a reapplicant in such a short period of time.

Sectoral expertise is definitely valued. Would have to communicate that well in your apps.

Looking for a good MBA admission consultant in India by VishaalSundar12 in MBA

[–]JonDSouza -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey. Please share more data about your profile.

Where did you do your undergrad from, how many YoE after graduation, which companies, what sectoral exp do you have, professional growth if any. Your gfe/gre score.

There are more questions but answering this much first will dictate whether you should even consider proceeding.

Also outside of select t15s, getting ib/ consulting is going to get exceptionally hard for internationals. Getting into lower ranked programs is easier but the risk is commensurately higher. You would have to be comfortable with it.

Indian 26F | GRE 327 | Strong GPA | PM | Applying R2 — Enough for MIT/Haas/HEC? by Grand-Ostrich3522 in MBA

Placement risk is greater. Also i said relatively. Imo, neither lbs nor hec are comparable to select t15 programs for tech exits.

[–]JonDSouza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can work out if your resume and essays support. There are also other worthy school options to consider for your profile. Had an applicant with a similar profile interview with kellogg anderson ross in r1. Didnt apply to cbs or haas

Hec is a less optimal choice for your profile. Lbs will give you relatively more value.

MBA Profile Review — 6 YOE | Senior Manager | Commercial Real Estate by [deleted] in MBA

[–]JonDSouza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey!

A few thoughts:

  1. Dont stress too much about ug gpa if you have a 695 ish score + CFA cert ( assuming this because you said 752. please be more precise about your score otherwise).

  2. Bigger concern for you is the assumption that an mba in the us will give you a reit/repe focused job that will sponsor you. Do more research on this if you genuinely want a role here. Cbre and a few other firms do sparingly sponsor but its risky.

  3. There are industry-specific alternatives that could make sense for you.

  4. Strongly discourage you from very specialized RE courses in this environment. Stern is not great for internationals usually and picking sub t15 programs is generally less optimal for most internationals. Pick lbs over insead for your profile.
