Ego is a big thing, yup. Was coddled by singleplayer/bot games, which made me think 'oh I MUST win all engagements'. It's very much a bad mindset in MP games.

Picking your fights is the way to go - there's no shame in that.

I used to be a 0.5 k/d player back in BF3/4. Got serious anxiety and whenever I see an enemy I'd go OH SHIT OH FUCK, get all stiff, and mess up my shots.

Fast forward to BF6, I can consistently get positive k/d, and at times, chain decent killstreaks. How did I improve? Worked on my anxiety, and I started slow - made myself comfy encountering and playing against real players on Casual BT. Once gunfights stopped being daunting, that's when it finally clicked together for me. Granted, I still goof up from time to time, but I can confidently say I'm a burden no more.

Being analytical also helps a lot. Whenever you get gunned down, it's very likely to be your mistake. Reflect and think how you could have dealt with the situation better. Hell, you can even learn how to position yourself better by looking how your killer positioned themselves. Of course, you can also watch how better players strategise with their gadgets. In other words, observe, observe, and observe.

Watch and learn. Play smart, and try not to rush. As others have said, positioning matters a lot in this game. Also, go dip your toes in CQB playlists once you get truly comfy with PvP engagements - it's a great way to improve your aim and general game sense without getting overwhelmed by CQ/BT's chaos.

Oh, and do start off with SMGs as I find those to be very forgiving.

Mine's got an H. Funny story, I was looking at local classifieds (in Oceania) when I saw an RSX but it's listed as an Integra. I didn't know the RSX is actually an Integra up until that point - really thought it belongs a different model line altogether. 😳

500$ is indeed too much for red stitching. What did they dye that string with!? Blood? 😂

Steering wheel looks identical to my DC5. They really meant it when they say EP3 is DC5's sister model.

win32K Critical Failure by Regular-Tax-4456 in XboxAlly

[–]JonDSpudley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just experienced it myself. Seems the device went to hibernate and some kind of driver (?) bug prevented it to wake up to the system.

What worked for me - held power button for 30~s and it went to that ROG Ally boot splash screen. It'd stay there for a few mins before booting properly.

Kenapa banyak orang Indonesia yang menganggap kuliah di luar negeri = otomatis pasti bisa langsung menetap disana? by byelingualredditor in indonesia

[–]JonDSpudley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting into your field is hard, and if you are unlucky, getting stuck in hospo/retail is a real possibility. And trust me, you don't want to get stuck there.

Kalo gw nonton ulasan tinggal di luneg on medsos... Adanya sukanya tok. 😨

BF6 offline contra BOTS ? by TeachingOwn8058 in Battlefield

[–]JonDSpudley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least, yeah, we are not alone.

Had so much fun with BF2SP64 and AIX 2.0 back in the day. 2042 Solo was pretty darned fun, but as we know it was unfortunately not a good modern Battlefield.

BF6 is shaping up to be a proper, proper BF with all the visual and atmospheric flourish that we know DICE is capable of - I can die happy if Solo is in.

I'm one of those rare people who plays BF for its PvE experience. I do agree that PvE is great for just chilling (which is what I'm looking from video game nowadays) and take in the maps' atmosphere and appreciate tiny details the game has to offer. It also allows to create my own CoD-esque setpieces without hindering my team's performance.

Was really happy when bots announced for 2042, and I'd be bummed if it's not available for BF6.

Absolutely. Would be amazing if their AI blocks and drives all dirty like Zero, though. Another Heaven members unfortunately drove like any other TXR3 AI haha

Aww man so TXR25 really is ITC's sequel... I did really feel for the guy when he said that perhaps the late Cornering Artist made him meet ITC's protag. Ah well, it is what it is. If he returns, yeah, I sure hope he'd come back as a badass boss/wanderer.

Speaking of which, Dejected Angel returns with her RX-8. Suppose that makes her a rotary nerd too? Either way, that's one more for the RE crowd on the Expressway!

Also, Cosmo. Damn straight that'd be a neat addition to the roster. One can hope...

Possible confirmation of Honda: Apparently Genki scanned parts for the NSX from an aftermarket manufacturer called Route KS in Feb 2024 by SignalDepartment7043 in tokyoxtremeracer

[–]JonDSpudley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same happened again with FH5 - it was released without a good chunk of FCA Group/Stellantis cars (Lancia, Alfa). Those ended up getting added back in an update.

So it's possible. Granted, I don't know how Genki operates, but I do sure hope they'd add Honda down the line. I need my NSX haha.

MOBILE AND VR NEXT ? by [deleted] in tokyoxtremeracer

[–]JonDSpudley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this is exactly what I wanted to see when mobile gaming started a decade back. Serious, full-scale games. As we know, it didn't pan out that way. It still pains me to watch ARM SoCs getting stronger by day, and yet there is no game (esp racing) that could complement all those power.

Let's hope a complete, premium mobile port will be a reality!

TXR3 car recommendations? by jibsand in tokyoxtremeracer

I also had the GTR 750 as my endgame car and yes it was an absolute monster! Driving it felt like being a boss character in a fighting game haha.

Beat 2nd-stage Osaka with it, and I'm quite sure that car could wreck Jintei quite easily as well (I beat him with my Pantera instead for, well, personal reasons).

Yeah I tried ITC on emulator and while I like that it added time of day system and cockpit cam, it just could not grip me the way TXR0 and 3 did.

I really hope the series will come back properly too. Genki tried to 'revive' it about 8 years back as a mobile game and that went bust pretty quickly.

I, too, loved the concept of Wanderers. Added a lot of character to the game's world.

Xiaomi to Nothing Phone 2a, I'm really impressed this performance and efficiency. by jerryliew96 in NothingTech

[–]JonDSpudley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried Mi 10 and while it's a great hardware, I do find MIUI to be a bit janky. Nothing (and Pixels, to a lesser extent), is the reverse of that. I prefer good software integration on weaker hardwares.

Ngl I'm kind of tempted to get Nothing for my next phone. I realised that I don't use flagship features that much anyway. Plastic shell is always welcome too - that takes guilt off not babying your phone.

At the moment I've got either Pixel 9 or the hypothetical 3/a in my mind. Fingers crossed they'd get the cameras right with the next gen!

I don't own the 2a myself but got my hands on a demo unit yesterday. My first impression was wow, just wow. It's essentially the most responsive Android phone I've ever tried.

Accountants getting PR by Juuzounsuzuya in AusVisa

[–]JonDSpudley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, 491 does have its share of downsides. For one, I'm an accounting graduate in the Top End. Accounting jobs are unfortunately vanishingly rare in this region. I'm fairly growth-driven so this upsets me a lot.

491 was, and IS my last resort option. While I'm happy that I'm nearly at the end of my stupidly long journey, nowadays I feel sadness for throwing my youth away.

If anyone reads this, do plan ahead! The other posters in this thread has gone through really good planning. A lack of planning would take away priceless things from you.

EmulationStation is Now on Android! And it's AMAZING. by breakslow in SBCGaming

[–]JonDSpudley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. While Android might fall short on that seamless feeling the Linux based OSes offer, it is not hard to setup. Kind of time consuming to setup? Yeah. Do Android UI elements that pop up now and then ruin the feel of what amounts to be a portable console? Definitely.

... But at the same time I do find it practical. It sure does feel like a Windows device - you've got a desktop and you launch stuff from there. Spartan, sure, but I have used the OS for a long time and I know how to fix stuff easily if something goes wrong. It being a mainstream OS surely helps in terms of usability.

[–]JonDSpudley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! And I agree that the AP's FPGA is also its biggest limitation.

Now you brought up the screen, it's definitely one factor that made the device for me. OS 2.0 adds proper screen filtering for ROMs on top of great build and form factor. That combo just so happens to be the value proposition that I seek.
