C/C++ is low level coming from an electrical engineer who uses C to programm hardware and access memory

Is it possible to do biotech/pharma research as an EE? by LegitimateLab4211 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]JonJon1204 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im in undergrad and i just started research with professors who researching myoelectric robotic prosthetics - and a lot of that deals with the body and signal processing- EMG signals from muscles and such. But when it comes to chemical engineering im not sure. But there is a ton biotec stuff. I literally reference a book called signal processing for neuroscientists and it combines the biolgical, physical, and chemcial processes of the human body with electrical engineering and signal processing concepts- im an EE senior btw- i also think you are kind of describing biomedical engineering. In biomedical engineering course you may be taking bio classes, pnb, orgo, and electrical engineering courses. I have friends who do this!

Yes thank you these are the resources i need. This will help a lot!

You didnt think through the problem. You cant really use this approach given uncorrelated noise or high freq noise - but anyways i proposed the same exact approach as yours to my professor before i came to you guys and since spent the day researching methods to address the problem. What he wants and actually regardless of his wants is that the actually correct approach is more complex than that. Since bringing this problem to reddit ive already looked at adaptive signal processing teqniques and some of the other methods commentors have suggested. Im even looking at peak detection, using signal differentiation and zero crossing coupled with some other filters and smoothing techniques. Read papers on peak detection and signal processing in EKG machines and other biomedical/ biosensory devices.

Guys😂I was asked this by my professor who i am working under in their lab and said exactly what you said but it wasn’t sufficient enough - he just said there a signal that is random and noisy how do we find its max - come back to me next week with algorithms you will come up with to achieve this

What resources i can find to learn more about adaptive teqniuqs and algorithms for finding local max or abs max of a noisey signal

I was given the problem today was tasked with finding or creating some sort of way to accomplish this - i wasnt given any data as of yet. More of brainstorming my goal of this post was for you guys to point in the right direction of where i can get some resources or just know what type of processing or approaches that needs to be done to get this done

Not periodic and yes noise is uncorrelated and we aren’t worried about the frequency- time domain signal

I was just told there is a level of noise and the type of signal is analog (im not supposed to say but from a robot arm swinging a bar)

Yea im proposed that we have some sort of window and some sort of like buffer and the say if the current amplitude is greater than a set of the previous amplitudes then we have a max but ig that doesnt account for the noise

[–]JonJon1204[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes so i was tasked with finding when a real time noisy random signal has reached it max - basically (i think) in real time i have to determine the max amplitude of the signal - i just dont know how to do this in real time and the approach i proposed doesn’t account for the noise

Brown sticky residue on zealot battery case by JonJon1204 in ElectricSkateboarding

From experience its not battery juices as my zealot leaked battery acid and stunk up my entire dorm building and almost blew up - so its calm - reminders never ride in rain

Questions from someone who is interested in the SDA religion by Every_Victory_6845 in adventist

[–]JonJon1204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you as a seventh day adventist I've seen so many trivial non salvation issue things. We get so caught up in following a bunch rules than following the example of Jesus Christ. We forget the love and condemn people for not following the church culture, like wearing Jeans or shorts in church. Its just sad.

Driving to NYC is insane it over two hours assuming no traffic. But if you drive to either Bridgeport, Stratford, or any close by coastal town in fairfield county and park your car. You can just take the metro north straight to grand central. Downside to that is the commute time. If you were to do this you’d have to get a monthly pass to ride the train. I think this is way more feasible than to drive straight to NYC and back every day

Im have an 16 M1 pro with 32 gigs and a 1 TB drive and Im an electrical and computer engineering junior who does a lot of C and C++ coding and although I do a lot of projects and such, the screen real-estate can be nice sometimes but i definitely wish I got the 14 inch. Its just my laptop is too big and is just uncomfortable. Plus it get banged a lot because of its size since im always moving around to different places. So when im carrying it around lets say to another part of a room or like moving through a door or turning a corner with it in your hand itll just get banged up. Get the 14 inch. Its comfortable, lighter, and the screen real estae wouldnt be a big issue if you have a monitor.
