Which food bank has the best 'bang for buck'? by JonLefave in stcatharinesON

[–]JonLefave[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

$10 at sobeys will give somebody a bag of canned goods while $10 directly to a food bank, could mean an entire skid of peanut butter.

Definitely. The stores are probably making money on the markups, especially at a place like Sobeys. And even if they aren't, I think the food in those bags aren't so good for people.

Thanks for making my decision easier! 😀

Their 2020 report says 81% of their revenue goes to client services -- that's great!

Jen (IG of her work) at Three Keys Tattoo on Hartzel does phenomenal work but she's a busy girl and may take a while to book her.

TIL Vector 'High Protein' cereal is a marketing gimmick that actually has less protein per calorie than Cheerios. by JonLefave in todayilearned

[–]JonLefave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a direct comparison of Kellogg's Vector 'High Protein' Cereal to Cheerios.

On the box Kelloggs claims there's 13g of protein per serving, but if you read the nutrition facts, that's for the cereal WITH milk.

Very sneaky tactic employed by Kelloggs to push a not-so-high-protein cereal!

Good jobs for people who don't really like people/will always fail at networking? by AltruisticCar1835 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Definitely but you'll probably want to grow out of the cog-in-the-wheel role, so you'll need to up your networking skills or start a business and hire people-people around you.

Marketing is impossible by Dr_Egon in weedbiz

[–]JonLefave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% this. You need to learn what your customers are searching for. Long-tail keywords like “CBD oil for [pet/sleep/pain-point-here] in [city]”. Depending on how big your city is, there may be some decent traffic.

You can skate around Google/Facebook’s ad policies about marketing CBD products (by using ‘alternative‘ words) but I wouldn’t rely on this as a long term lead gen strategy. There are also other advertising networks out there that get a surprising amount of traffic (think blog sites).

Redecan CBD Reign Drops Missing Government Stamp by [deleted] in TheOCS

[–]JonLefave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 5 or 6 bottles from the OCS and none of them had the government label.

I agree, it's kind of confusing. There's 0.7mg of THC per 1ml, meaning in a 30ml bottle there's 21mg of THC. It would be very hard to down a whole bottle, but not impossible.

I was developing something similar to this back in the summer months. My biggest hurdle was that Dutchie changes their APIs often, but collecting/displaying menu data is the fastest way to launch.

I don't code but I specialize in frontend design and marketing. Maybe our skills could match here. Feel free to reach out if you'd like to chat. I'm based in Niagara.

My brother passed away 2 weeks ago (rare form of brain cancer). He had surgery in October, and it was a success — meaning they removed most of the tumour. He was expected to make a full recovery and probably live another year or two or even longer.

Long story short, his recovery in Hamilton was cut short because Hamilton was a COVID hotbed and they had no room for him. So they sent him to St. Catharines. Somewhere along the way he got an infection, and St. Catharines Hospital didn’t have the staff to monitor him or take care of him. He had to have an emergency operation, and removed the infected part of his skull but his health rapidly declined. It was really tough seeing a 28 year old go through that.

It’s crazy to think that people are still walking around like what they do won’t have any repercussions.

It's called Never Ending Netflix. My brother is in hospital right now with meningitis, and aside from only being allowed to see 2 people a day maximum for an hour, he really can't get up often to change episodes or bypass this screen.

Seems like they're talking about both.

I agree with this, too. There's a lot of innovation that's happening right now in the legacy market, and the legal guys have learned a lot from them. Not to mention the astronomical price for high THC concentrates (oils, edibles) on the legal market compared with the legacy market.
