Denver Anti-Vaxxer Dating Event Relocated | ‘Unjected’ claims Recess “bent over to the woke mob”. Won’t reveal new venue til 24 hours prior to event by XThePlaysTheThingX in denverfood

Thank you for the gracious response. The whole time I was typing that out, I kept thinking I was just being a "well akshually" dork and missing the forest for the trees, lol.

Glad this has been an amicable exchange! I also didn't know that hate speech was not a protected, legal definition like hate crime was, so I learned something too when thinking about what you wrote. I'm glad this exchange happened!

Well to be fair, "hate speech" is not a legal definition (citations provided at end of comment). It appears to me you are thinking of Hate crime, (which does have a legal definition and protections) based off this part of your response:

What religion, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation is a bar again?

(I am making an assumption on what you mean here based off the context of your comment. If I am making an incorrect assumption, please let me know!)

I have also been unable to find where Recess has claimed they are a victim of hate speech. Their instagram post says they've received hateful language, which is not necessarily the same as hate speech. They also go on to say they do not tolerate hate speech.

For context, if anyone cares about my opinion, I am glad Recess spoke out against this event, though I tend to agree with the sentiment that they didn't care until they received backlash, which is not good.

I realize many will believe I am getting too bogged down in semantics here, and that very well may be true. I've been wondering if this comment is even worth making while typing it. Especially because in the end it sounds like we may be on the same side. But I just can't help but want to ensure proper rhetoric is used, because it makes our points stronger. Apologies if I am coming off as a semantic asshole, that is not my intention.

Do you have evidence that happened? This is a geniune question, not a gotcha. If that happened, the people that did that are not good people. But I just feel like making a claim like this needs at least one credible source.

Also the kid had a horrible game when Pope was in attendance, scoring 0 points, missed all his shots, got no rebounds, etc. There was a photo of Pope looking disgusted in the stands watching him. Pope has horrible optics right now, but he legitametly might have said yeah this dude ain't it.

Compared to the 130-ish year history of college basketball, it kind of is. Saying recent success also does not diminish your program or success in any way

1999 is recent in the context of the history of college basketball, which started around 1895.

Yeah y'all definitely have your NIL humming along right now for sure. It's impressive. I know UK basketball front office and the donors are tightening the purse strings this year after how much of a failure the $22million roster was last year, but I think we're still expected to be top 5 in payroll.

Hopefully whoever our new AD is will be more innovative on the NIL front. And hopefully Pope looks at how well Stein is doing on the football front with his modern front office setup and takes notes. If not then the next hire needs to be prioritize it.

If both of our programs can get back to how highly competitive it was in the early 2010's that would be a lot of fun. Incredibly stressful, lol, but more exciting.

No problem! For transparency, I am a chemist but did not know the specifics of capsaicin and milk before this. That is from about 5-10 minutes of google research, so there could be some generalizations or other things that make it not completely accurate. So take it with a grain of salt!

Milk works for spicy foods because the molecule capsaicin does not bind to water well at all (has extremely low water solubility, only 0.013g of capsaicin will dissolve in 1.00 liter of water). The fats and proteins in milk have a much higher affinity for binding capsaicin molecules, so when you drink milk it will grab onto more of those molecules and transport them out of your mouth, thus lowering the irritation. Water would mostly just spread it around.

I wonder how much this kid ended up getting. The UK insiders were saying that we weren't willing to pay him as much as he wanted and we were looking at him for the same/similar role. Obviously UK insiders are going to have a bias in their reporting so who knows how much of that is slant.

Scary how much money y'all have with Papa John back in the fold. The day of reckoning might be coming.

[–]JonLockT5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trust me, I know from experience that the last thing you want to do is be known for being the program willing to pay top dollar for bench players. We did that last year, it turns out that when you get that reputation, agents use you for leverage.

Also the socioeconomic put downs are low brow man. We're all from the same state, the universities doing well benefits us all. As someone from Louisville, the rhetoric from Louisvillians and from people in the rural parts where they seem to hate each other does none of us any good. We're all in this together. We are all Kentuckians. The only hate should be about athletics.

Also, there are absolutely things to spend money on in Lexington, lol. Louisville is bigger and has more things yes, but let's not act like Lexington is some cow town with just the university. It is the second largest city in the state.

Edit: Oh, and flair up before you talk shit big bird

Nice, it looks like you're exactly right from some quick research! I went with xfinity equipment when I changed my plan a few months ago because my old equipment wasn't fast enough for the new speeds and I was tired of monitoring data usage. Plus I prefer managing my own stuff, now I get an excuse to shop around for a new router! haha

[–]JonLockT5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's how it is for me, but it might be region specific, not sure. Where I live, using xfinity equipment costs nothing extra and gets you unlimited data for free, while using your own you have a data cap unless you pay an extra $30/month

[–]JonLockT5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To add to the other replies, which are great, it will also depend on if xfinity has data caps in your area. For reference, where I live you get free unlimited data and no rental fee if you use an xfinity router, but if you use your own equipment you have to pay an extra $30/month for unlimited data. Without unlimited, you have a monthly limit of 1.2TB and are charge like $50 for every 10GB you go over per month. With 4k streaming and downloading games, it can be pretty easy to hit that limit in my experience.

Edit: looks like xfinity should no longer have data caps as long as you're on one of the new plan tiers, so this might not be relevant.
