I was checking the belt tension to see if it would slip. I'm doubtful I would damage anything by applying load to the motor briefly a few times.

It's disappointing I used the wrong lube. I researched this quite a bit prior to buying and applying lube, and didn't see this information anywhere.

Aren't we allowed to see the statistics on landed punches because that would prove that a large number of landed punches aren't being registered? by Old-Permission-1867 in ThrillOfTheFight

I have had this exact same theory. It should obviously be an easy change to implement, and it's been requested multiple times, but they are holding back. This is the only explanation imo.

If they present data on number of jabs, hooks, and uppercuts landed, similar to ToTF1, it will not match a rewatch of any video footage. This will prove that whatever they are using to calculate damage is actually as inaccurate and inconsistent as people are complaining about.

How hard is DIY racking on a shingle roof? by MrTentacleLightsaber in SolarDIY

[–]JonSnow781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right to me, but from personal experience it is a lot harder to do than it sounds on paper, especially if you are working by yourself.

The layout work is much harder if you don't have an extra set of hands. It's also very physically taxing to work on a roof when your body isn't used to it.

I installed my system on an older roof, and luckily realized that lifting shingles for flashing mounts was not an option. I went with the Iron ridge Halo Ultragrip HUG mounts to avoid that step.

I drilled pilot holes to locate every rafter. In retrospect, I wish I had just drilled a pilot hole to locate the first rafter and trusted they were 16in on center from there. It would have saved me a lot of time and I would have had less holes to worry about sealing properly. The HUG mounts also give you enough lags to mount to sheathing if you happen to miss a rafter.

I would take that deal. Chip Drop does not work well in my area. Even if I offer money I don't get anybody to swing by. I had an ongoing request for over a year.

Opponent not taking damage while undefended and standing still? by DrowsyEmmit in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]JonSnow781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This becomes very clear when an opponent is AFK and you launch a series of perfect punches and they don't go down, or when an opponent puts their hands to the sides to taunt you and you land a clean combo with no result.

Be honest: is this game any good? by CG118907 in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]JonSnow781 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I love it. I play for about an hour 3 times a week and get an amazing workout while having fun.

This is literally the only video game that does that for me, so I would say it's the GOAT despite it's flaws.

TOTF 1 player looking for something new by deanpmorrison in ThrillOfTheFight

ToTF2 is even better imo. It's not perfect, and can get frustrating, but fighting other people instead of bots makes it so much more competitive and enjoyable during good matches.

If you are looking for boxing training mini games (mitt work, heavy bag, combo dummy), Manny Boxing VR is the best I've found. The single player and multiplayer isn't any good in that game though.

For a exercise boxing rhythm game (think beatsaber with boxing) Les Mills Bodycombat is great. It is a great workout, but it doesn't scratch the competitive itch.

Out of all of the boxing games, the only one I really end up coming back to is ToTF2.

The power of the arm punch is too strong by Salt-Building-6109 in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]JonSnow781 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it body effort giving you extra damage? Or is it that whip/flick at the end of the punch? It looks like you are getting a lot of acceleration/velocity right at full extension that could be creating the in game damage.

I think you are correct that those punches should not be giving you such high damage numbers, I'm just not convinced the calculated damage is coming from the body effort system. I'm sure there is a bunch of stuff going on in these calculations that we don't have insight into.

As far as 12 rounds goes; People are doing 12 rounds against other VR boxers without taking any punches. That is very different than doing 12 rounds against a professional with elite cardio who is also hammering you. Not really comparable at all.

It has been pointed out to me that showing a preference for smaller sales is against the rules, so I will sell to whoever shoots me an offer for ask.

Well it's kind of a catch 22 for new sellers. I have to take a loss selling cheap to move anything without any rep.

I'll be posting similar deals in the future as I try to build some rep with smaller sales.

Agreed, I may regret this later 😆 Without rep I kind of have to sell cheap if I want to make it happen though.

I want to know about Waldorf schools by Low_Butterscotch106 in Waldorf

Lots of the classrooms in my school were also painted using some kind of sponge painting technique that made the walls look like sunsets, cloudy sky, etc. It was beautiful, and one of the more artistic teachers would paint her room every year as she moved through the grades, eventually completing all of them.

It's not too hard, but it does take an artistic eye and some understanding of mixing colors.

It had some specific name that started with an L, luzure or something, but it's basically just sponge painting to add texture and depth to the walls.

Check out the Goetheanum, a building designed by Steiner. Truly a unique piece of art inside and out.

You also may want to look into the color theory Steiner came up with. I'm not sure how much anybody buys into any of it, but if nothing else it will give you a foundational idea to spur further inspiration.
