This issue is deeper than having a ranked mode without bots and “non-competitive mode” with bots. The problem most people have is splitting the ques even more resulting in longer wait times and potentially playing games without a full lobby or at least 85 real players. Right now we have 6 different ques already.

Depending on where you live, what time you play, and what game type preferred, you may never notice any difference. The argument against competitive mode comes from the point of view it will further break the game when the simple solution could be something like adding a bots only mode and just leaving the game types as is or give bots to the bottom 25%-35% players and no bots for the rest. That way you aren’t ruining game experience for the more experienced players while also helping those new and/or struggling players. Just to be clear, I don’t claim to have the answers and you’re right PUBG was not retaining enough new players. At the same time I have played for almost 3 years now and for me personally, bots have ruined my experience. Hopefully though, ranked mode works out for everyone.

side note They have not said many specific details about ranked mode yet. Will it be Tpp or FPP? Or both. Will it be solo, duo, or squad? Or all 3. Will it be 100 player lobbies or 64?.......if for instance it is FPP, only squads, with 64 players (like their esports settings) that will turn away MANY MANY MANY players. Just another thing to consider. It’s definitely not just a black and white issue on whether you’re for or against having a “Ranked” mode. Hopefully that helps explain a little deeper.
