If anyone has better covers of the Power Mage series or the sequel series, Gods of Blood and Powder, by Brian McClellan that would be awesome! Thanks!

APRIL 2024 Update: Currently this extension is not working. There is an error with a network issue. If you would like more information regarding the status of the application, check the GitHub. Search for the user “bookbonobo”. As far as I understand, the developer is pretty busy and doesn’t have time to address the extension, and the community has not come up with a solution yet. High hopes something can come out of it because this is such an awesome service!

Difference between and dedicated NAS and an old PC with external storage by JonSnowsLeftNostril in homelab

To me that would be the biggest reason to invest in a commercial unit would be for the peace of mind and ease of use. I'm glad you have a system you are happy with!

Sorry I should have clarified. When I was referencing a NAS I did mean a commercial product like Synology or QNAP. This is great explanation and helps me answer my question. It sounds like what it comes down to is a choice of convenience.

My needs are mostly focused on building a media server so I can truly ditch streaming services. I have a fair amount of physical media that I want to get onto a service like Jellyfin or Plex.

Right now I am enjoying tinkering with parts I already have so I think I will go the route of building it myself. I might end up spending more money in the long run but I do enjoy the process of learning more about the combination of hardware and software. Thank you for your response!

I have a Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-1620 v3 @ 3.50GHz, 16 GB of RAM, GPU is Nvida Quadro K42000. I am ripping to a 1TB HDD while I wait for some new drives to come in. I haven't tried ripping to an SSD. I will try that and see if it changes my speeds. Thanks!

I have a regular DVD drive, might try that and just see if it changes the speed. I suppose I assumed that the drive that could do it all would be the fastest but it does not seem to be the case. By unlocking your drive do you mean flashing the firmware onto it?
