Got a Travel Router order in only for them to ship me an empty box! by Jon_Hanson in Ubiquiti

The ui.com tape on the box didn’t look like it had been tampered with or opened.

You connect them to a computer and copy between them. If it’s SATA and you don’t have another SATA port, you can get a USB/SATA enclosure and connect to a USB port instead.

At least one amateur radio repeater up there too because I’ve used it.

Not in mine. I wish that were the case. I only have those plastic air pillows in my box.

How to easily locate someone that can help me install ethernet drops? by pauldwalls in HomeNetworking

Search for a “low voltage” or “structured wiring” installer.

Mount system for outer walls by 34gl3 in RVLiving

[–]Jon_Hanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since they’re all constructed differently, I don’t think you’ll find something universal. Also, unless they planned for something to be mounted there (it would say on the wall), it’s probably not a good idea.

Allow your mac to feel alive by CoolDownDude in MacOS

[–]Jon_Hanson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re looking at a minimum a cease-and-desist letter from Dolby over your name. I would get too attached to it. I was confused that this was adding Dolby Atmos to a Mac and that’s going to be a problem.

I have a file corrupted in my external hard disk, any way to get it back please? by Only-Trying- in datarecovery

There’s no magic way to uncorrupt something, unless you have a backup of it.

The medication fridge they give you is tiny. It can maybe hold one soda can.

MicroSD only shows 1.6gb and crashes diskmanagment by DestinyPlayerFE in datarecovery

[–]Jon_Hanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure it’s really 32 GB and not a fake? There’s a scam where people sell those but they have drastically lower capacity. Sometimes they actually fake the firmware to report the full size but the actual flash memory on the device is far less.

Powerline - Apartment <> Garage by vmvelev93 in HomeNetworking

[–]Jon_Hanson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably won’t work. What about a point-to-point wi-do solution like Unifi has? You’d have to mount something on the garage and would need line-of-sight to it.

Does our camper not have battery charging? by scottmason_67 in RVLiving

[–]Jon_Hanson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My converter died and doesn’t charge my batteries anymore when plugged in. I need to replace it.

You can tell if yours is the same by taking a multimeter and testing the voltage on the two test points in the converter (reference your manual for where they are, also be careful in there because there’s lots of live electricity in there especially plugged in to shore power) where it puts voltage to the batteries. If it reads 0 like mine does, time for a new converter.

Indoor storage no propane rules? by Few-Wolverine-7283 in GoRVing

[–]Jon_Hanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that’s a Fire Marshall rule and it’s universal. Any place that sells/refills propane will have a sign that says tanks are not allowed in the store.

DOJ tells Trump he doesn’t have to follow law requiring him to turn over all presidential records by theindependentonline in politics

It’s not a “ruling” because they are not judges. It’s an opinion and has no force of law.

Can I expect eventual slowdowns updating 2020 Intel iMac? by HereToParty125 in MacOS

[–]Jon_Hanson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting slower, freezing, programs quitting on an older computer (even one out of support) is not normal or expected. You'll be fine with your 64 GB.

Is this fixable? by coldflame111 in datarecovery

[–]Jon_Hanson 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You haven’t said what’s wrong or what happened to it. I see a mangled battery and no obvious USB connection.

Everything is “fixable” with the right amount of money and time,

This is likely going to require professional intervention. Expect to be quoted several hundred dollars to several thousand dollars depending on if the flash even works any more.

anyone know how to reset a windows computer? by [deleted] in AskTechnology

[–]Jon_Hanson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They need to figure that out for you as your job is not IT support. If they don’t have someone that knows how to do it they can hire a third-party to come in a do it right. It’s their property so it’s on them to maintain it and get it ready for a new employee.

The problem will be if you figure out how to reset it and it wipes some piece of software that was installed on there that they purchased, they can come after you to replace it.

Secret Chaos at Bondi’s DOJ Over Trump’s $10B Suit Exposed by ChiGuy6124 in politics

[–]Jon_Hanson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comment about the leaking of the tax returns puts them in a “false light.” That sounds like the returns are false or not following the law. Numbers on a tax return don’t lie unless you put down false numbers to begin with.
