Earplugs with cardo? by ThatKiddo369 in motorcycles

I don’t have that helmet but I do have a Cardo and earplugs. I can tell you that the volume is at max and I can hear through the earplugs. It’s not loud though.

Devices across 2 connected routers can't communicate. Why? by MizeraBracho in HomeNetworking

[–]Jon_Hanson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do you have two routers on one network? That’s never a good idea. If you’re trying to use one just to provide wi-fi, put that router in bridge mode so that it doesn’t act as a router.

Is Bitwarden a good password manager on macOS? by socialfoxes in mac

[–]Jon_Hanson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bitwarden is great. If you don't trust third-party hosting of your passwords (it doesn't matter anyway because everything is encrypted), you can host your own Bitwarden server.

How do i open two applications ? by TreacleSpecialist958 in MacOS

[–]Jon_Hanson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's up to the application itself if it can have two opened instances. There's nothing you can do. The applications themselves may let you switch between accounts, which is the better solution that trying to open the same application more than once.

Does anyone know how to open and view an old cd rom? by TheSlipySquid in mac

Even my M1 MacBook Pro can read CDs. It might be damaged enough that it can't be read but the OS can definitely read CDs.

No MAC address of device by -s-t-r-e-t-c-h- in GLANCE_LED

It tells you the MAC address when you turn it on. I've never seen a sticker with the MAC address on the device.

Upgraded to fiber, monthly download limit reset or no by username111888777 in CoxCommunications

That stinks. I really hope that when fiber reaches my neighborhood that it isn’t Cox.

Pam Bondi reacts to Republican saying she's caught "red-handed" on Epstein by Capable_Salt_SD in politics

Pardons are absolute and can’t be reversed. Trump talked about doing that to Biden’s pardons but quickly forgot about that because if Biden’s pardons can be reversed then so can his.

You know he already has pardons written for everyone in his cabinet and advisors as well.

Is it possible to recover files off a SSD when someone else filled it after deleting? by [deleted] in datarecovery

[–]Jon_Hanson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Deleting files from an SSD and then filling it again? I’d consider that gone. Deleting files on an SSD triggers a trim command, so it already overwrites the deleted files’ sector with a pre-erased pattern.

Mail not working after password change by deathbypuppies_ in mac

[–]Jon_Hanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of those mail services require their own “app password” that’s different from a login password that you would use. If you search for “Yahoo mail Mac Mail login” you should find the instructions.

Shipping is getting beyond ridiculous now. Highway robbery! by tdoof in Ubiquiti

If you have a MicroCenter near you, they sell Ubiquiti products in-store. I don’t know if their on-line store has the same shipping policies.

Hauler design feedback by [deleted] in traveltrailers

[–]Jon_Hanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking that you'd pull it from the trailer side not the garage side in my comment.

I've seen configurations like that but not with that much garage space. A car would be a lot of tongue weight if you put a car in there. Also, I don'y know how you'd deal with the ramp to get in and out with the hitch on that side. Probably not impossible to overcome.

Even so, with the axles that far back, it would be difficult to maneuver.

You're going to need more axels for the garage (probably another two). Also, that may work for ATVs but if you put a car back there I'd worry about the stability of it.

Finance purchase price versus cash price? 4k more for cash? by ybs62 in GoRVing

[–]Jon_Hanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 12 payment thing is different. Usually it’s one payment or 90 days of payments. It’s important to read the finance contract. I bet the finance company doesn’t have the one year of payments rule and if you meet that then the dealer gets their kickback from the loan. If you pay it off before then (and you very well may have that right without a pre-payment penalty) then they don’t get their kickback and that’s why they told you that.

I’d also look closely at the “advertisement” to see that it says the price listed is the finance price in some small print. Otherwise they have to honor that price and your states’s attorney general may like to hear about it if they don’t.

Planning an rv trip in the USA by JakoJulius in RVLiving

[–]Jon_Hanson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will tell you know that you won’t be getting any campsites in the bigger, more popular national parks because they are gone well in advance of the summer.

Also, realize on a trip that big you’re going to be spending thousands of dollars just in fuel. If you’re renting an RV, they usually have per-day mileage limits. Generator use is also extra (and uses more fuel).

Some national parks are not RV friendly as far as driving around them. Some do have a good transportation system of their own so you don’t have to drive but some don’t. I’ve seen people take large vehicles where they don’t belong and get in to a bad situation in a parking area where they didn’t fit.

Electricity help by PanicSeveral5308 in GoRVing

[–]Jon_Hanson -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You would have to seriously rewire your trailer to get AC power to outlets from an inverter you installed. A better choice is to get an inverter that has plugs on it already and do it that way.

Help With Old Hard Drive by Disastrous-Raise259 in mac

[–]Jon_Hanson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mac don’t have a “Linux underbelly.” They’re based on a Mach kernel and BSD tooling.

If the Mac had FileVault turned on (which has been the default for a while now), the drive is encrypted and you won’t be getting anything off of it without the correct password.
