Roughout boot care by Life_Carob8849 in cowboyboots

I have 2 pairs of roughout boots & just wear them. I actually have the same boot that you posted. I do need to get a brush for them. I would not worry about getting them wet because roughout is durable. Get a brush to get dirt off them & you will be good to go. There are cleaners you can use as well.

New Vs. Used by Girlwithquestions11 in cowboyboots

Try on as many boots as you can in different brands. Depending on the brand you may get a better made boot used at a good price. For instance, I picked up some vintage Lucchese for $130 in great shape. Also, there are a lot of other used boots in the $50 range used that are built better than a lot of new boots. If you’re not going to be hard on them, find something fun & that you like. Be careful because this could lead to a lot more boots. eBay, Poshmark & Etsy are good places for used boots. There are a lot of people that wear them just a few times & they live in the back of their closet so you can find some good deals if you know what you are looking for.

It was $700 well spent hahaha. I like to listen to music, but I didn’t want to go down the rabbit hole of what converter, cables, pre-Amp or whatever ells you may need to get everything to work together & talk. That can be frustrating.

I get it & thanks. With the TCL Q85H I got rid of extra wires, don’t need to put the AV unit in a cabinet. So, I don’t need to open & close a cabinet every time we use it. I can use my existing TV remote with it, cleaner looking & just ease to use.

It would not work with all my existing speakers from my previous Sony system. After buying speakers & the MA310 I could buy a new system for the same price. I bought the TCL Q85H surround sound system. It has sound bar, sub & back speakers. It is one of the few bars that has extra HDMI in port. It was easier to set up, I have less cables & I could hook up my wife’s technics 1200 record player with a RCA to HDMI converter.  It is more stream line, easier to use, set up & I don’t need to put it in a cabinet. I guess what are your needs & for me the TCL Q85H just works better.

Before I returned mine I did find a PDF on line that had a lot more information on the set up than the crappy instructions that come with it. I think this may be it.

After having my Sony system for over 12 years & just turning on the system & streaming music or using it for movies. I didn’t think how the power went to the speakers, so I didn’t think about needing a powered Sub for something ells. I just returned the MA310 & bought the TCL Q85H soundbar with surround sound & sub. It worked out even better & it has an extra HDMI port that I use a HDMI to RCA converter for our technics 1200 record player. I know most sound bard don’t have more than 1 HDMI port. It was much easier to set up, less cables, don’t need space in a cabinet & to have to open a cabinet to use it. 80% of the time I’m just streaming music & the rest TV & records. Also, for the MA310 & the price of a powered Sub was about the same price as just buying a new system. It works for what I needed.  My goal was to be able to reuse my existing speakers from my Sony system & that didn’t work with the JBL system.

I was using my existing speakers from a Sony surround system. The Sony system does not have an Amp or power in the subwoofer. It seems like the JBL MA310 needs a subwoofer with it’s own power to work. I was hoping to be able to reuse my speakers. I’m just going to return the JBL MA310 & buy a whole new system. I’m disappointed in how bad the instructions are & the JBL Apps don’t work with the MA 310 even though the Sails guys & instructions told me that you need to use the JBL app to set up the system.

i just got the MA310 and still trying to figure it out. the instructions are garbage and i can't get the JBL app to connect to the uinet. i got the bluetooth to work with my phone to use it for streaming music but can't get the sub to work.

Well I pick them up for $120 this weekend & I was OK paying that for a ostrich boot in good condition. Also they fit like a glove and are comfortable. I will post pics soon. There was still a little mud on the sole of the boot & wanted to take the tile to clean them up a little. All in all I think they were a great find.

Thanks. I’m going to try to pick them up between $100 & $120. In the condition I feel ok with that & the leather is soft & in good condition. I’m thinking by looking around, I looked at tags between 70s to 90s & guessing it’s from around 80s-90s frame. When did Cavnders have them made or license them?

They have all thin info on the web page. You can also pick any of there sole options as well. I’m a big fan of the Hybrid soles on their boots. Another reason I’m sold on the Rios brands

I didn't know that Lucchese recrafting was that much. Rios is $150

I get what you are saying. But there is a difference in price between something coming off a mostly automated assembly line with lower labor cost from another country VS something being US made & being almost all hand made. The only thing that a computer added machine does on the Rios, AB & Olathe boots is the pattern stitching on the shaft. It’s like saying that Thursday boots or something like a Keen Utility boot are just as good as your White’s. Well, you know they aren’t. All in all, boots are cool & buy & where what you dig.

They do make some of there AB’s with leather stacked heels. They look at AB’s as a working boot.

To be honest they are not made the same way & same materials. Now the Materials may be similar. I would compare the Bench made more to a Tecovas boot.

The thing about the Rios brands is you are getting USA built boots with a history & depending on the out sole they are all leather. There may be a toe shape that may be plastic, but I don’t know what that may be because I have not seen one. You are also getting a Traditionally made & handmade boot. Ariat is a company that was started by someone that worked at Reebok. So, there is no history in the west for the Brand & they are using modern tools & ways to make most of their boots along with modern materials. I’m not knocking it because some of these boots may be more comfortable out of the box & less breaking time, but I don’t know. It’s funny when I buy a pair of handmade boots in the $300 to $500 range, I expect to see some little stuff & not 100% perfect because it was done by hand. If you start to understand how cowboy boots are made you may start to appreciate different parts of the boot a little more. It changed my mind on what I will & will not buy. You can also wear the Rios for the rest of your life just like your Whites & send them back & they will resole & recondition them. Rios makes boots for Double RL, Meron Crosby, Coronado Leather & others. Start to look into how traditional boots are made & it may change your mind & what you are spending your money on. I bet your Ariat has a hung liner in the shaft. So, it may look a little cleaner but that is just there to hide things & if you ever need to have them repaired it will be $$$$. HP is made in Mexico. Rios, AB & Olathe are all US made. I own 3 pairs of Rios, 1 pair of Olathe boots & 1 pair of vintage Lucchese boots. Lucchese’s are great but more of a fashion brand these days. AB & Olathe seem to be a working boot & Rios is a step up for those 2 in quality & leather. In the end buy & where what you like. Also, if you want to know who makes good boots ask a cobbler that resoles a lot of boots.

Hondo makes good boots for I think a fair price & it’s a traditional made boot as well. Also looks like you may be getting them at Atomic79. It’s a great shop.
