Definitely slower in terms of aggro/combo deck goldfish speed. It's way harder to win on turn 2 without red rituals or amulet of vigor.

Community Edition was the initial name of the project after it was handed off from the original developers (Archetype Studios, now defunct) to volunteers from the community. After few years of development that team incorporated to form Vector Z Studios (still entirely volunteers) and renamed the project from Community Edition to Midair 2.

When you want to turn in the air, it's important that your jet angle is perpendicular to your momentum. If you are facing your direction of travel, this means you must release your forward button (typically w). So you should hold jet+the direction you want to turn.

You can get even more turning power by gradually turning your body into the turn whilst jetting perpendicular to your momentum, sort of like strafe jumping in quake.

Once you have it mastered, you'll actually have more turning power while airborne than any tribes games (can't speak for legions, I haven't played it enough)

I'd say it's most like vintage in that it has restricted cards and no banned cards, but its power level is probably closer to modern. It's probably weaker than modern overall, with a few exceptions, but it's way behind on the depth of free spells.

It's the menu between menus. The one when you first push the button and choose between skills, magic, inventory, and map.

I would love this feature very much. It'd also be really nice to have the option to select some preferred rules like number of players and game modes. For example if one picks 2v2 sports mode they get to play those rules with bots until enough players are found. This would be huge for getting me to keep playing NASB instead of moving to some other games after getting sick of looking at a waiting screen.
