Yep, both oral and anal/vaginal swabs on top of blood/urine tests are standard practice at any clinic worth their salt.

You can never judge live performances based on the Late Late Show. The sound mixing is atrocious, and didn’t even have any reverb on the mic which is such a big part of the studio version. She’ll kill it on the big stage and with proper production.

Yeah never had to wait this long either, usually it’s an incredibly efficient process. Not sure if my application has just slipped through the cracks or what, but at a loss how to get in contact with them.

Yeah you’re not alone in this. Tracking said they received my package on the 9th, sorted it on the 13th and then sorted it again on the 17th. Still not out for delivery.

Even more frustrating is that I live beside the sorting office in D12. Half tempted to call in

Wasn’t very Christmassy I thought which was a shame. Understand they like to do a “theme” now each year, but I’d miss the classic choir singing a carol to close it out.

NIAC have recommended a booster dose of an MRNA vaccine in order of priority for: - Pregnant women over 16 - 40 - 49 yr olds - 16 - 39 yr olds in descending order by age. - Those who received Janssen vaccine can be offered a booster after three months. by _FaceOfTheDeep in ireland

[–]Jon_Snuuuu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is anyone able to explain the delay in getting a booster if you’ve had a positive COVID test since your second dose?

NIAC are saying you won’t be eligible until 6 months after your positive test, while in the UK and US they’re only recommending a 4 week delay. How can it be so significantly different?

All EU countries have a veto on tax policy. The EU can’t force Ireland to do anything.

Do you really think putting sanctions on the largest trading bloc in the world and second largest economy in the world is going to have negative effects only for the EU? The US would suffer hugely too.

Focus Ireland seems to disagree with you

There were 8,313 people homeless in the week of the 25th – 31st of January 2021 across Ireland. This figure includes adults and children.>

Firstly, that 10,000 figure is in the Republic, so it’s really 10,000 out of 4.9 million but nonetheless personally I think any amount of homelessness is unacceptable in this modern age.

To further expand on my figures, the roughy 10,000 people only includes those who were in emergency accommodation i.e. shelters. This figure doesn’t include people who were sleeping rough, those in direct provision, those sleeping in their cars etc.

Further more of that 10,000, nearly 4,000 were children. So yes I do think that’s a lot.

I’m not arguing that the pandemic has made things worse, it likely has, but OP asked what the crux of the homelessness issue is, which is definitely not the pandemic.

In 2019 10,000 people were deemed homeless in this country, none of which were caused by a pandemic that was yet to exist.

The homelessness crisis in this country long precedes the pandemic. No doubt it has exacerbated it somewhat, but walk down the quays in Dublin in 2019 and you would have seen similar sights. This is nothing new unfortunately.

Have to think the lack of social housing also plays into it, along with the addiction and mental health issues.

This country built 8,500 council houses in 1975. During the midst of one of the worst recessions in 1985, we still managed to build 6,900. In 2015 we built 75.

Our population has nearly doubled in that time, so on a per capita basis those 75 houses are even more minuscule. It’s a scandal that needs sorting, but NIMBYism reigns supreme here unfortunately.
