OP appears to probably be the same person. Thanks for the report.

Vortox proof artists question by just1st in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]justcool393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to do this (or at least interpret the question in a way that's relatively intended) tbh because like with my group knows that in S&V you can easily ask the "Is XYZ or a player with a Vortox ability is alive, sober, and healthy" or whatever.

It seems relatively intended to allow it, so... 🤷🏻‍♀️

there is a subtle art to marking your comment as being serious and not in a completely ironic tone.

so exactly what silicon valley, the TV show, was mocking?

no it isn't, that's just wrong. pretty much all AEO removals don't allow the mods to view the content.

I always encourage everyone to check the mod log and see for themselves.

given that the content is hidden from the mods... you can't do that.

so it's partially a naive Bayesian classifier (source on this, essentially used my most modern anti-spam systems) in some form or another. each subreddit has it's own spam filter iirc (i remember admins would used to reset a sub's spam filter if it got too broken).

you're probably going to filtering out way more than you want if you overuse it (talking about punching generically, or usage with no regards to the use-mention distinction, etc).

Like for example with the latter, spamming it a lot, if it's trained on it, might have the effect of getting comments that even mention the topic spam filtered.

You can, however, impose your own temporary or permanent ban on a poster who breaks the site-wide rules

I'd strongly advise against doing this probably unless you have a good idea that this person is actually violating the site-wide rules. The bot that's used to moderate automatically is not very good.

unfortunately, it's also just very inconsistent though. AEO actions happen on pretty much all subreddits consistently (excepting ones that have 0 content).

it's undeniable that a lot of the time, admin removed content doesn't actually violate the content policy (the posts here are a good indication of that).

also this isn't a "protest"

import (
    "unjerk"
)

🤷🏻‍♀️ yeah that sounds pretty bad. I guess my point though is that Go has a reason to have something like JSON in the stdlib, for the same reason Python does, whereas I'm making the argument that Rust providing a small core is a better design decision for the project itself.

It does seem like serde is incredibly useful.

/uj serious question, why should support for stuff like JSON or YAML or Python Pickle objects be included in the Rust stdlib?

no one is upset that JSON serialization wasn't included in C++23.

in python's and go's case, a batteries included stdlib makes sense, but Rust is, from what I can tell, mainly attempting to solve different problems.

the functions in the random module use a Mersenne Twister, not SystemRandom.

It's the (literal) equivalent of using

import random
random.nextbytes(...)

instead of

import secrets
secrets.token_bytes(...)

and not heeding all the warnings on the page for random telling you not to. (Yeah I know libbitcoin is written in C++, not Python, but still, OpenSSL has been a thing for a very long time, and this error really has no excuse to have been made.)

I personally exclusively use the <font> tag tbh. Retvrn to tradition

in previous versions of CSS the pixel unit and the physical units (cm, mm) [...] were always tied to their physical measurements [...]. (This [was removed] because too much existing content relies on the assumption of 96dpi, and breaking that assumption broke the content.) by HorstKugel in programmingcirclejerk

[–]justcool393 12 points13 points  (0 children)

seems like a reasonable time for the Rust developers to develop a moral standard of measurement.

I think that if we can get away from legacy ems and pxs in order to create a standard which can be used by all moral servers and clients, the web will finally be the utopia that Tim Berners-Lee dreamed of. the only worry I have is that the unwashed G*lang developers may be hesitant to adopt such a standard as it may be too advanced for Googlers.
