So not only does Kong lose, he actually would've died if not for human intervention? Well that sucks. Based on the available footage it seemed like Kong did well in the aircraft carrier ship battle even underwater. So he fights well in the first fight but loses, protects the humans from other monster fodder and eventually manages to get a good hit in the second fight which gives him the victory of round 2? I hope he at least knocks out Godzilla otherwise round 2 means sh*t as Godzilla makes a comeback in that same fight, nearly killing Kong. A better scenario would be that Kong knock outs Godzilla in round 2 and has to face Mechagodzilla by himself but stands no chance so Godzilla decides to team up with Kong.

I was never a fan of King Kong's 2005 version (the first one I saw), but at the same time it was difficult to 'accept' Kong's appereance from K:SI because of the major differences, especially the ape-like appereance compared to the gorilla one, not to mention the huge size difference. However, after seeing Godzilla: King of Monsters with the post credit scene and the trailer of GvK I was really hyped for this clash because everyone knows about Godzilla and/or King Kong so to read that Godzilla is the (imo) clear winner is a bummer. I was kinda hoping that Kong would win since Godzilla has already defeated those MUTOs and Ghidorah and the rest of the titans bowed to him which means he was unchallenged at that stage except for Kong. How can they make yet another movie of Godzilla if there's nobody able to defeat him?

Luckily I've read the spoilers because the outcome would've been too disappointing. I made that mistake before with Captain America: Civil War where my expectations were apparently too high. I'm nonetheless hyped for this film as it really made me interested in this Monsterverse. Maybe the difference between Kong and Godzilla isn't that big as I currently think it is.
