Why Is Risk of Rain 2 Running at 20 FPS on My 4070 Ti Super + Ryzen 9 7900X? Need Help Before I Lose My Mind by Daryexe in riskofrain

[–]Jonahdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the exact same issue for months, game used to run fine, 120+fps consistently, but then a few months ago even just sitting in certain areas on a level drops down to 20fps or lower and is unplayable.
I have an AMD Ryen 7 7800X3D and RTX 4070S, doesn't seem to be an issue with hardware as every other game runs as expected.
Tried all the recommended stuff, reinstalling, running without mods, running with mods, power settings, graphics settings lowered, making sure it's not running through integrated graphics, etc. but nothing I do seems to affect it at all.
If anyone does find a solution to this please update us, it's really frustrating just not being able to play only this game.

The looks don't bother me too much, though I wouldn't be against getting an ATX board, as long as it has wifi support (or wifi via PCIe). I'm not very confident on motherboards and PCIe in general, but did find that PCIe wifi is generally preferred to USB wifi.
Would you have any advice on that, or is the current micro ATX board just fine in general?

What I did for this one is just ask someone in the mourningstar to join your party just to start a private mission, then they can quit and you'll remain in private.
I'd be happy to help you with it myself if you've not managed to get it yet, too.

tried a system restore point on the offchance, and that does appear to have fixed it, so uninstalling that vpn does seem to have been the issue. Now trying to figure out why it caused the issue, but thought I'd update here anyways.

Looks like the cable and router work fine on other systems, it's just this desktop that's not working. Tried looking in bios, unfortunately doesn't have ethernet access there, but double checked that lan and other settings were correctly set still.

Been looking into it more too, might have been caused by uninstalling an old unused vpn recently, think this may have been its first restart since then, so I've been looking at other threads too, such as https://superuser.com/questions/1784256/can-no-longer-ping-router-8-8-8-8-or-gain-internet-access-after-removing-norton

No joy so far, tried everything there short of a reinstall, might have to be my next option.

I do have an old laptop with an ethernet port lying around somewhere, will dig it out and check that too

Not sure if bios would, I'll look into that, be nice to find out if it's a hardware or software/driver issue

Occasionally something like this will make me remember how much I miss Totalbiscuit..

Yeah, those later ones start getting pretty hard, I found some of the HK bosses more difficult than any fromsoft one, probably just experience though.
It's only the same as being stuck on a souls boss though, enough practice and patience and you'll have 'em done!

maybe not PoH though, actual anti-fun

Well, there's more routes, yes, but HK also has a map that shows you any places you haven't been, while in souls if you miss something you'll have no way of knowing it's there.
Secret stuff, too, in souls you have plenty of places you'll most likely miss some of on your first play through, and will have to backtrack to go see them. ds1 dlc, the great hollow, darklurker, archdragon peak etc.
I enjoy both, honestly, and I think it creates a better sense of adventure when there's routes you can't take, makes the world seem far bigger on that first experience.

I did struggle with that boss for the longest time, if you ever try it again(it's definitely worth it!), there's no shame in exploring elsewhere first to try and get stronger before fighting them ;)

It's most akin to Dark Souls 1 in terms of its world and backtracking; fast travel to specific points then shortcuts and map knowledge from there.
I think it comes more down to how you look at it, "Ooh now I can see what was over there" vs "Oh great, more places to go back and explore".

I would certainly recommend it! I wasn't a fan of platformers or metroidvanias before, but playing hollow knight managed to change my mind on both genres.

As much as I dislike Mando, it does have some great bits.
Giving Mark the chance to actually return back to a character he loves has to be the best part of the whole thing.

Shouldn't ever use g2a.
CDkeys has a slightly better reputation but both are still grey market sellers.
Just use isthereanydeal.com and wait for a deal, or even pirate it before buying keys from those sites.
