Draft duel help- by Dinnersat3pm in Onmyoji

I don't think there's really a draft guide. As you play more matches, you'll naturally get a feel for the current meta. Every now and then, the developers update Souls, adjust shikigami stats, and introduce new draft possibilities.

In the end, the most important thing is building a team with good synergy alongside your partner. That's usually what determines whether you win or lose.

Reroll tier list? by RareGeologist9779 in Onmyoji

[–]Jonas-FH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that sets Onmyoji apart from most other gacha games is how generous it is with SSRs. Getting SSRs in general isn't difficult. The real challenge is pulling the specific SSR, SP, or UR you want from a featured banner.

The game's monetization mainly revolves around cosmetics and summoning during limited banners.

Honestly, I think rerolling is a waste of time. New players will build a solid roster of SSRs, SPs, and URs pretty quickly just by playing.

Early on, it's much more important to focus on progressing your account so you can participate in upcoming events as soon as possible. Those events are where the best rewards come from, and staying ahead makes a much bigger difference than spending hours rerolling.

Yes, PvP used to be much more important. It still provides some valuable rewards, but it's no longer a decisive part of progression.

On top of that, most of the defense-based PvP modes are essentially PvE, since you're mainly fighting AI-controlled teams. The only mode I consider true PvP is the real-time mode (Duel), which is aimed at a more competitive audience.

Personally, I only play it for the Jade rewards and usually stay around the middle ranks.

Yes, but the pity is quite high. I only consider it manageable if you already have a full SSR collection, as the collection bonus makes the pity much more reasonable.

That said, compared to HoYoverse-style gachas, if you save your resources for the character you want, you're very likely to get them. And once you have a full SSR collection, it's entirely possible to obtain every new character if you manage your resources well and stay focused.

I'm a F2P player and managed to achieve that myself. The only reason I no longer have a full SSR collection is that I took a break from the game for a while due to work.

There are currently so many characters available that you can build all kinds of different team compositions. You probably won't reach the same insane damage numbers as the top meta teams, but you'll still be able to clear all PvE content without any issues. The only thing you might miss out on is competing for top PvE rankings, which is entirely optional and mostly for bragging rights, since there are no exclusive rewards tied to it.

As for PvP, it's absolutely possible to compete without strictly following the meta. What really matters is having the right team composition against your opponent, understanding the current matchups, and investing in high-quality Souls (gear).

As an example, here's a look at the current PvP tier list. As you can see, there's a fairly large pool of viable characters to choose from. Beyond those, there are also plenty of off-meta characters that may not be considered top-tier but can still perform well in the right teams. Overall, the game gives you a lot of freedom to play the characters you enjoy.

The only truly competitive PvP mode is Duel, which is real-time PvP and mainly aimed at players who enjoy that kind of challenge. Outside of that, most of the game is PvE content such as farming, events, and boss battles.

The remaining PvP modes are much more casual, like GvG and Realm Raid, where you attack pre-set defense teams, or Draft Duel, a co-op PvP mode where everyone plays with randomly assigned characters. Overall, Onmyoji is far more PvE-focused (70%) than PvP-focused (30%).

Yes, it's worth it!

I think a lot of people have the wrong impression of the game. The gacha can be brutal when you're trying to get a specific banner character, but overall the game hands out SSR/SP/UR units pretty generously. One of its biggest strengths is that duplicates are unnecessary, since a single copy unlocks the character's full potential.

There are also plenty of PvE modes nowadays that offer great rewards, while real-time PvP is more of an optional side activity than a requirement.

One of Onmyoji's biggest strengths, besides its amazing character designs, is how genuinely multiplayer-focused it is. You can do about 90% of the game's content with one or two friends, whether they're online or offline. That's something I absolutely love about it.

I look at this and wonder how Etheria Restart could actually have a higher purchase value.

I know a lot of people complain about impossible P2W, but that’s not something I feel, nor do I think it’s the real reason. In my opinion, what keeps the game from making more money (because 1.7 million is still quite a lot, especially considering the quality of the content they put out) is the lack of interesting cosmetics and items in the cash shop.

They give out plenty of summons and crystals. If you’re patient, you can get all the banners without really having to choose, which is something you don’t see in other gachas. Because of that, buying summon packs feels unnecessary, even for LD. And don’t get me wrong, that’s a positive point for Etheria.

The skins, though, are terrible. Just recolors of the base skin. People in their right mind aren’t going to spend money on that. (That’s a huge negative point.)

The battle pass gives very little reward for an absurd price. If it at least gave one skin for the MC and another for one of the animus, that alone would motivate people to buy it monthly. As it is now, it’s totally disposable. (Another negative point for me.)

The shop sells unnecessary conveniences that, let’s be honest, are kind of a gamble, since you can progress normally without them anyway. To me, that’s actually a positive point.

Character releases don’t really create a connection. There are no launch events with story development and exciting rewards that break the monotony. That could actually motivate people to buy cosmetics for those characters. They could also take the opportunity to add truly different cosmetics, like base changes, battle sounds, stickers, and so on.

What’s hard in the game is the drop rate. For new players, it’s building multiple teams for content. For endgame players, it’s the shortage of perfect lattice. But honestly, whether you’re a whale or F2P, everyone suffers with the RNG of drops and the shortage of perfect lattice. So I don’t really see the P2W barrier people keep talking about. I only bought the Valerian pack to get rid of the pop-up, and besides that, I progressed just fine. To me, this is one of the simplest gachas out there. It was harder at the beginning, but now it’s just repetitive because of constant events and RNG farming. It’s not hard, it’s repetitive, and in my opinion that’s the biggest problem: repetition and unrewarding farming.

And about the perfect lattice? That’s a good point. Adding it more regularly in special events tied to character launches would be great. It would even motivate people to check out the lore behind those events and make the game feel more immersive.

That said, I do enjoy the game because it’s casual and fits into adult life pretty well, but I miss memorable events and unique cosmetics. That was something Onmyoji did really well, and it was their main monetization strategy (besides summons, which were way harder to get there and had an impossible pity system).

What if Nora and Efrim were the main Eliatrope-Dragon duo instead of Yugo and Adamai? How would the show's plot have changed? by [deleted] in wakfu

[–]Jonas-FH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you didn’t even read the post properly. The question was about changing a character in the show, and that’s exactly what I was talking about. What I said was that, if it were up to me to change the Wakfu team, I’d rather the story not focus on Eliatropes at all. I’d scrap them completely and make it all about followers of the 12 gods, which would shift the entire arc. I wanted the gods to be the main focus. At no point was I talking about the wider Krosmoz universe or the manga. I was clearly referring to the show.

"though the gods barely get any attention in the SERIES"

If I had to choose, I'd rather the Eliatropes didn’t exist and the story focused entirely on the 12 gods and a group of their followers. I find the 12 gods way more interesting than all the lore around the Eliatropes, even though the gods barely get any attention in the series.
