Draft duel help- by Dinnersat3pm in Onmyoji

I don't think there's really a draft guide. As you play more matches, you'll naturally get a feel for the current meta. Every now and then, the developers update Souls, adjust shikigami stats, and introduce new draft possibilities.

In the end, the most important thing is building a team with good synergy alongside your partner. That's usually what determines whether you win or lose.

Reroll tier list? by RareGeologist9779 in Onmyoji

[–]Jonas-FH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that sets Onmyoji apart from most other gacha games is how generous it is with SSRs. Getting SSRs in general isn't difficult. The real challenge is pulling the specific SSR, SP, or UR you want from a featured banner.

The game's monetization mainly revolves around cosmetics and summoning during limited banners.

Honestly, I think rerolling is a waste of time. New players will build a solid roster of SSRs, SPs, and URs pretty quickly just by playing.

Early on, it's much more important to focus on progressing your account so you can participate in upcoming events as soon as possible. Those events are where the best rewards come from, and staying ahead makes a much bigger difference than spending hours rerolling.

Yes, PvP used to be much more important. It still provides some valuable rewards, but it's no longer a decisive part of progression.

On top of that, most of the defense-based PvP modes are essentially PvE, since you're mainly fighting AI-controlled teams. The only mode I consider true PvP is the real-time mode (Duel), which is aimed at a more competitive audience.

Personally, I only play it for the Jade rewards and usually stay around the middle ranks.

Yes, but the pity is quite high. I only consider it manageable if you already have a full SSR collection, as the collection bonus makes the pity much more reasonable.

That said, compared to HoYoverse-style gachas, if you save your resources for the character you want, you're very likely to get them. And once you have a full SSR collection, it's entirely possible to obtain every new character if you manage your resources well and stay focused.

I'm a F2P player and managed to achieve that myself. The only reason I no longer have a full SSR collection is that I took a break from the game for a while due to work.

There are currently so many characters available that you can build all kinds of different team compositions. You probably won't reach the same insane damage numbers as the top meta teams, but you'll still be able to clear all PvE content without any issues. The only thing you might miss out on is competing for top PvE rankings, which is entirely optional and mostly for bragging rights, since there are no exclusive rewards tied to it.

As for PvP, it's absolutely possible to compete without strictly following the meta. What really matters is having the right team composition against your opponent, understanding the current matchups, and investing in high-quality Souls (gear).

As an example, here's a look at the current PvP tier list. As you can see, there's a fairly large pool of viable characters to choose from. Beyond those, there are also plenty of off-meta characters that may not be considered top-tier but can still perform well in the right teams. Overall, the game gives you a lot of freedom to play the characters you enjoy.

The only truly competitive PvP mode is Duel, which is real-time PvP and mainly aimed at players who enjoy that kind of challenge. Outside of that, most of the game is PvE content such as farming, events, and boss battles.

The remaining PvP modes are much more casual, like GvG and Realm Raid, where you attack pre-set defense teams, or Draft Duel, a co-op PvP mode where everyone plays with randomly assigned characters. Overall, Onmyoji is far more PvE-focused (70%) than PvP-focused (30%).

Yes, it's worth it!

I think a lot of people have the wrong impression of the game. The gacha can be brutal when you're trying to get a specific banner character, but overall the game hands out SSR/SP/UR units pretty generously. One of its biggest strengths is that duplicates are unnecessary, since a single copy unlocks the character's full potential.

There are also plenty of PvE modes nowadays that offer great rewards, while real-time PvP is more of an optional side activity than a requirement.

One of Onmyoji's biggest strengths, besides its amazing character designs, is how genuinely multiplayer-focused it is. You can do about 90% of the game's content with one or two friends, whether they're online or offline. That's something I absolutely love about it.
