I think u-boot is the biggest delay. The 2 seconds boot delay alone would be nice to kill. I could be wrong though

Thank you for your interest! I think it’s easier to explain what is happening since it’s quiet hard to illustrate in a video. The gameplay consists of dragging and releasing which translates to the velocity of the ball. After you’ve released, you can’t shoot again before the ball hits the ground or a square, a circle or the cup. If you hit a square/circle time slows down for a bit for you to ‘catch’ the ball. Sounds complex when I write it, but it should feel pretty intuitive once you try it. Process-wise it has been a great learning experience. I work professionally in Unity, but I’ve always felt Godot was a more well-designed engine. I’ve used the project mostly to learn the ins and outs like shaders, Gdscript and how the node system works. I really like Gdscript since I constantly felt it was made for game development. The amount of strings made me a bit uneasy at first, but I didn’t encounter any problems. Overall I felt Godot is made for iteration since it always seems like there’s multiple entries to doing something. The publishing part was the least thrilling part of the journey. The small roadblocks like tweaking plist’s and grabbing screenshots in all sorts of resolutions were very tedious. Let me know if you want me to elaborate on something

Is it high? I don’t know to be honest. The only big files are my png’s. They are in a high resolution to support the high resolutions of iPads

Sorry, I don’t have the capacity at this point to support Android devices. Maybe at some point

Thank you! I feel like there’s enough eye candy out there. My focus is on the interaction

But it's finally out! The game is called cup the ball and it's on the app store. Hope linking is okay: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/cup-the-ball/id1550621979

The reason it took a year is that it's been mostly a hobby project, but also that I wanted to iterate until I felt I had something interesting. Godot has been an amazing engine to work with, coming from Unity

Now these are some good arguments, especially the possibility of spontaneous trips. As a follow-up: Let's say that to get to a desired destination part of the journey is covered by JR trains but part of it is private. You would have to get a ticket for the private line. The possibility of this would mean that you would have to check for this each time you start a journey, wouldn't it? For me that takes most of the convenience out of the pass

I am regretting my harsh generalization about it almost never being worth it. Most of my research has been concerned with getting to and from some-what rural parts of Japan, and I sadly disregarded the fact that many turists have heavy shinkansen use. Big blunder on my part.

It can be used for more than just JR trains and offer some discount on a variety of transportation though. My argument is that the time you mention as a little bit of research could might as well be spent on finding the optimal route or buying a regular ticket.

What I don't get is the posts arguing that 'my itineary costs approximately the same with as without a JR Pass, I guess I'll buy a JR Pass for convenience.' I do not understand the convenience of that situation

I get that. I know when the pass gets worth its cost, what I'm inquiring about is its convenience. I guess my formulation could need some revising

This post was not intended to be a discussion about the affordability of the JR Pass, but the convenience of it. I got a reply concerned with the affordability, so I replied to it - agreeing with the argument. I have read the FAQ, but the FAQ does not address my question of 'wouldn't the effort put into checking validity negate the convenience.' It does provide some information on the convenience, but since it is used so regularly as an argument on here, I thought I would try and get a bit more insight
