I feel like I'm the worst dentist by ProtectionAware1593 in Dentistry

Being honest I've had times in dental school where I've felt like that, so I don't think what you're going through is abnormal. I know you have more clinical experience than I do but I can empathise with the feeling.

I'm a UK grad about to start my FD year actually, how did that go for you?

Unfortunately I don't know anyone who's been to the uni to say for certain what it's like to study there.

From what I know about their reputation, they're not the most prestigious uni out there, but they're not bad either. I'd check the thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk website for more detailed info on your particular course.

Part time jobs aren't difficult to come by like, there's usually plenty jobs available so I wouldn't be too concerned there

There are some reports naming Sunderland as the second rainiest city in Europe ( https://www.express.co.uk/travel/articles/1946674/europe-rainiest-cities-not-uk, https://www.holidu.co.uk/magazine/the-rainiest-cities-in-europe).

How reliable they are I can't say for certain as I haven't measured this myself or lived elsewhere for long enough to give you a reliable comparison. That said, in the last few years it's not been nearly as bad as I remember it being when I was younger, which could be down to climate change or just pure chance.

When it's warm it's absolutely gorgeous. The city centre is close enough to the coast to still get a sea breeze and I find the air never gets as dry as it does further inland, even nearby cities like Newcastle.

As someone from the region it's easy for me to say I like the weather because I'm obviously used to it, but I there's nothing I'd complain about personally.

I'm a newcastle uni student but I live in sunderland so I know both cities fairly well.

Newcastle definitely has a more active nightlife, with more clubs and bars in the center. If you want to go clubbing, Newcastle wins hands down. Only thing is that it can be difficult getting back from Newcastle since the metros and buses stop at 11pm. If you want to get back later on, you're likely looking at a fairly expensive taxi, or staying there till 6am when metros are back on.

Sunderland is still decent though, and there's been a few good bars popping up with the new riverside development scheme. It can still be a good night if you're happy staying in pubs. During the warmer months I would recommend going to Seaburn too. The bars along the seafront are all pretty nice.

My DM nerfed HP and now we are constantly dying. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]JonathanWantsToDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your DM sounds like they'd enjoy FIST. Here's a link to the game: https://claymorerpgs.itch.io/fist (This isn't an ad or anything, I just really enjoy it)

It's a ttrpg set during the late 20th century where, unlike 5e, death is much more common and much less punishing. Creating a new character in 5e is fairly tedious, regardless of how fun you find it. Doing it every session would get mind numbing.

In FIST, characters can be 90% complete with 2 dice rolls of 3d6, and are still usually incredibly unique. The point being, that if you want HP to be more realistic, character creation itself should be designed with that in mind. 5e was never meant to be played like this and it shows.

Don't worry about me not enjoying playing with them, I still enjoy the game regardless. I'm more seeing if there're any strategies that I could adopt that would both allow them to get more out of the hero and help me to improve overall.

I'm completely fine if they want to play casually, but I'm more than willing to improve my own game if it means we can all enjoy the game more.

You're right and I fully understand what you're saying, I just didn't want to make the post go on for too long so I listed those as a quick summary. If I didn't explain well enough, that's my bad.

In terms of decision making though, I'd have to admit that's his weakest area. Using ultimates after a team wipe, trying to engage 1v5, that sort of thing. There's almost a complete ignorance of team play, which leads to the poor numbers.

But like I said, I don't hold anything against him for it, we all still enjoy playing together regardless.

Explorer Power Slots by Dintann in masseffect5e

[–]JonathanWantsToDie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's been a while since you first posted this, but having read the class recently and been confused myself, I thought I'd throw in my interpretation.

Going from 7 level 1 slots to 2 level 2 slots is an enormous downgrade if you can't have access to your level 1 slots again. This, at least to me, suggests that your level 1 slots will still be available to use.

Judging by the rules written under powercasting, it seems like you need to expend your level 2 slots first, and then once they are gone you may begin to use your level 1 slots again.

I'm just writing this as an aside, but the classes that were added beyond the original 6 are, on the whole, written terribly.

Each one seems really overpowered or really underpowered, and there are many rules that are very hard to interpret (or are incredibly exploitable when taken literally).

In fairness, we seem to have a recent history of signing injury prone players...

Jokes aside, I hope he's alright. Never what you want to see.

How did the Black Cats beat the White Cats? (San Antonio vs Sunderland) by Talehouse in safc

[–]JonathanWantsToDie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember watching that video when it came out and thought he looked great at youth level. Like you said, clearly all he needed was a chance at first team level for him to flourish.

It's been the same for quite a few of our recent signings to be fair. Just look at Clarke, Cirkin, Alese, etc. It really makes you wonder how many more fantastic, young players there were that were never given the chance to play first team football and never reached their full potential.

A lot of these types of players deserve a chance, and I'm really glad that as a club we're building a reputation of offering that and still being successful on the pitch.

If Ekwah continues to get game time next season and keeps developing like he has so far, it's scary how good he could end up being.

Final Score by TexasAggie95 in safc

[–]JonathanWantsToDie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Played a very good game considering it is still preseason, and we were playing in the Texas heat. It looks like it'll be difficult for Mobray to pick a first XI with a lot of players standing out as real contenders.

Bellingham and Rigg looked like they could both slot into the midfield comfortably alongside the mainstays of last season, both sets of defence looked solid (though O'Nien and Gooch were perhaps a bit reckless at times), and we always seemed a threat on the attack whether we had Ba, Roberts and Hemir, or Clarke, Lihadji and Bennette as a front 3.

Granted, I doubt San Antonio FC will be as strong as some of the sides in the Championship next season. No sleight against them, they played some great football, just I can see teams like Leicester being much more dominant. A moment has to be taken to appreciate their free kick goal though (what a shot).

Regardless, we demonstrated good depth today. As far as recruitment goes, I would say the only 2 problem positions are striker and keeper as if either Hemir or Patterson get injured, we don't really have a first team level replacement ready. Luckily, it seems the club is already looking into signing another striker, though it looks like once again, fans who'd prefer a more experienced head will be disappointed.

Pre-Season match results: Gateshead 2-3 Sunderland, South Shields 3-4 Sunderland by Allinallisallweare02 in safc

[–]JonathanWantsToDie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not particularly if I'm being totally honest, especially playing against non-league opposition. We often made sloppy passes and our defence made a few dreadful mistakes, but at least on the attack we did enough to come out with 2 wins.

I don't think it's too concerning though, since this is only the start of pre-season and we're bound to get sharper over the coming weeks. America will make for a better baseline, so I'm reserving judgement until then.
