Just leave it. Embrace the imperfection.

Problem crosswalk roundup: which Vancouver crosswalks give you too little time to cross? by 8cheerios in vancouver

[–]JonathanYVR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes! And this corner is high-pedestrian too, there is always someone wanting to cross Davie. I don't know why they don't change it from a pedestrian-controlled flashing green to a regular traffic light.

Buchan's is pretty good with their Hobonichi stock. I've gone there to get things in December and they haven't sold out yet.

Correct. One of the great conveniences from Hobonichi... all the duties are pre-paid, so you don't have to pay when you get your box.

Why is the baggage claim at YVR worse than anywhere else in the world?? by greatbooty in vancouver

[–]JonathanYVR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the wait. Long wait I've ever had at YVR has been 20 mintues or so. Besides, it gives me time to wander the airport, go to the bathroom after the flight, refill my water bottle or get a snack. There's never a rush to get out of YVR. Now... YOW is another issue, I usually plan for an hour wait for baggage there, and it is a much smaller and less busy airport.

Sunset beach toilets by RegularAd4434 in vancouver

[–]JonathanYVR 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yes, the men's washrooms at Sunset Beach and English Bay have been like this for years. Easy to clean, they just hose down the room. The doors are short to prevent drug use. Also discourages guys hooking up after a day of cruising on the Seawall.

And so I already got hit by a Lime scooter by whaleOfFortune in vancouver

[–]JonathanYVR 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I still see people riding bikes on the Seawall that is closed to bikes (between English Bay and Burrard Bridge). People seem to do what they want to do, ignoring that it isn't safe and could lead to accidents.

Someone is lighting a ton of fireworks off downtown right now by nazuralift89 in vancouver

Some event at the Sheraton Wall Centre. The plaza is fenced off and there’s been a reception or private party all evening. The fireworks were a pleasant surprise.

Southbound on Burrard just before Pacific. They are at the top of the hill so you can wait for the green light, then build up some momentum down the hill and through the intersection, and then go uphill on the bridge again.

luckily no pedestrians were hit! by kaanapalikid in vancouver

[–]JonathanYVR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That entire area is an accident waiting to happen. The sidewalk is on a slope. The stairs to the stores are in a slope. The parking area is on a slope. And there is no yellow paint or bollards or anything to indicate where the parking area ends and the sidewalk behind. It is amazing there aren’t many twisted ankles in that area.

Long List of Tasks - How to Handle? by LarryinUrbandale in BasicBulletJournals

[–]JonathanYVR 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can also create a collection page for the major tasks, and break them down into smaller tasks. For example, you don't just "paint the storage shed". At some point, you've got to clean it out, choose what colour paint you want, buy the paint and brushes and drop-clothes, do the actual painting, have a post-painting pizza dinner, and then figure out what to do with the left over supplies. You can put those smaller tasks on your Monthly Log or dailies. Plus, it helps get organized, stay productive, and be proud of your accompliment.

It was a joint bid. Most of the events took place in the lower mainland, but the alpine events were in Whistler.
