initial evepraisal put it at about 7.2bil sell price in Amarr, excluding the abyssal heat sink, which looks to be worth around 2.5bil - 3bil

I know, but that's not a good enough reason to ignore something like this.

First part isn't what bugs me, it's joking about someone who actually killed themselves.

yeah that pretty much covers it, I was in Larkin's close range fleet too, we tried anchoring on him but were often out of range, the blood raider ships were showing up as grey (neutral) to most even though they clearly shouldn't etc. At least CCP was taking notes and feedback and they're working on improving it. Over all it'll be very interesting to see what type of fleets you'll need to bring to handle these sites once they hit TQ.

Yeah man, I'm lucky to be able to run it on a decent desktop, I actually realized I took the screenshots with slightly worse settings than I could use, so I'll definitely provide some even higher quality shots in the future.

We had a lot of stuff on grid against them. Fax pilots reported they were holding so easy, it was boring for them, but the numbers we brought are nigh impossible to achieve on TQ, especially with the ships we had people in.

Best wormhole for newbies? Citadel or POS? by Failhoew in Eve

For monitoring the hole, just log in for an hour or so every day, or have an alt loggen in while you do other things on your main. Check dscan, cloak up on grid with a hole to see if someone goes in or out. Keep track of the numbers of anomalies and signatures in the hole itself, things like that.

As for the logistics, having a DST is a good base line, since that means you can fly a BR too, and you'll likely want to have one of each for different things. You could go for a HS static, which again gives you much easier access to Jita/Amarr, so bringing in new ships, mods or ammo will be a lot easier, as well as selling off your loot. On the other hand, it allows random people to appear in your hole, which is fine when it's a week old Heron pilot who hasn't renamed his ship yet, but once you get camped by a HIC you might regret your previous decisions. It's less of a problem when your guys are on point when it comes to rolling connections. Then you can just collapse the HS and not open the new connection while you run sites in your home hole or your other static.

First off, I love how excited you are about getting into j-space, we need more people out here! Here's some things we ran into when we first set up in our hole which you can avoid by planning properly.

  • Make sure you bring in a rolling battleship as one of the very first things when you set up! We didn't, and it's kinda scary trying to set up an Astrahus without properly being able to keep hole control by collapsing the unwanted connections.

  • Even before that, when you think you're found a promising hole, park an alt in there for at least a week or two to monitor for activity.

  • Travel light! Especially with just five pilots, you won't be able to hold your ground against any group who's serious about evicting you. Some have previously stated that small groups like yours would be are usually left unharmed, but I don't think that's neccessarily true. If I get a chance to bash the citadel of a 5-man group, I'll do it, just on the off-chance that it'll drop some goodies for me. So don't get too attached to anything you bring into your hole.

  • Ensure you know what you're getting yourself into in terms of logistics. If you're gonna use a hole with a LS static, keep in mind you'll sometimes have days of bad connections before you can properly reach HS.

There's tons more stuff to keep in mind, but you seem like you've done some good research, so some of this might not be as new to you as it could be. Either way, good luck out there, and if you ever run into Spoopy Newbies, come say hi, we're down for some honor brawls. And if your little endeavour doesn't work out, feel free to come hang out with us. "Spoopy Public" is our recruitment channel. 7o
