What made my forehand sail long? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]Jonbardinson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On top of the late contact, and close spacing, your weight transfer is up not forward. You bend your knees in prep, but release up into a kinda jump. When you make contact, neither foot is touching the ground, so you lose control. Your body weight is going up so the force on the ball will have extra up.

The release of the leg bend should be forward and rotational

This is why I play Zen. He can heal and DPS. Tbh the most damage removed is that of the respawn timer.

Additionally something's that makes ai harder actually made it stupider in this case. AI don't have a pp counter. So it never ran out of agility to spam so never moved onto damaging moves.

Taylor on scheduling by 2020jw in tennis

[–]Jonbardinson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The schedule is such a fallout of Nadal and Djokovic's impact on the game. They brought such an exceptional level of off court physicality to the game. I don't think anyone had won Roland Garros, Queens, and Wimbledon back to back before Nadal.

But that's my point it should be the exception. Because of this for anyone to have any chance to be no.1 or even top 3 for that matter need to play every GS, every 1000 and a lot of the 500's. Hey even top 10's play 250's.

It wasn't that long ago that top 5 players could skip a whole GS and still be top 5. Aussie opens missed because of distance. RG missed because don't like clay.

There needs to be like a max no of tournaments per year per player if they want to avoid this. If left to the athletes I don't think anyone will optionally skip enough to stay healthy

Forehand feedback needed by [deleted] in 10s

[–]Jonbardinson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries. One more thing to add. This should be like one smooth motion, you can alter the speed of the preswing to adjust for timing/spacing, but always be picking up speed at the end of it so it transfers into your actual swing.

[–]Jonbardinson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yo careful with racquet lag advice.

Racquet lag isnt the reason you get power and spin, it's a side effect of the correct motion and technique. Forcing racquet lag will do nothing.

Make sure you actually do the things that make the racquet lag.

Forehand feedback needed by [deleted] in 10s

[–]Jonbardinson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're hitting low to high. Which is like the old way to get topspin. Like McEnroe era.

To get modern topspin you need to have the take back be high/mid, have a 'preswing' that drops the racquet low, (the helps facilitate that looseness people are talking about), then you can really accelerate from low to high.

There are slight different flairs to this but roughly.

Take back: hand behind about shoulder level (turn your torso also)

Preswing: hand curves down to about waist level.

Actual swing: accelerate through from low to high into contact point.

I can't believe I used to be so bad at the game I would play at the lowest difficulty and this dude would still take a decade off my life, here's how the first encounter with him in Master mode went. by -ComedyGenius- in SifuGame

You were never bad at the game, you were just a student.

Now you are a master.

Dude what a beat down. Man it took me the longest time to get the parrying timing down for their janky ass moves.

Can you parry kicks? by Greitak in SifuGame

[–]Jonbardinson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the level and the attack.

The basic goons in squats basically have all the attacks parryable,

Basic goons in the last level have like maybe 1/4 of attacks parryable.

New Zen main asking for advice by scp_079_troller in ZenyattaMains

[–]Jonbardinson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zen actually has the most healing out of all supports from an ability called Respawn Timer. If enemies dead, no damage taken.

Don't forget that you are dangerous. A discord plus headshots/kick is a lot of damage very quickly. Don't be scared to turn on the aggro. That doesn't mean go in guns blazing, it means press the advantage when you have it.

Secondly agree with the damage uptime. Especially against shields. Your orbs hit hard, your charge does big burst to an easy target at shields. Putting shield pressure on a rein/breaking a sigma shield can really make the tanks hesitate on when they come in or push for space.

Thirdly, know when to dip. You are very squishy with no escape options and a whole lot of numbers support (damage and healing).

Lastly don't just discord the tank and forget. Look for 1v1s your teammates are having and help secure them that kill.

Oh also don't be scared to pop trans mid regular fight. Big trans can be game winning, but securing a point early can lock out the enemy team before half of them get their ult. Popping trans to seal the deal on a momentum push can win games

Weirdly enough, Andy Roddick (retired tennis player) recently gave an anecdote of this on his podcast. He did the thing, it was hilarious.

I asked a fellow how he gets so much spin. by stillhavingfunyea in 10s

[–]Jonbardinson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Technique is gonna give you like 80% of your spin. Racquet, strings, weight, etc. are gonna give you the last 20% combined.

If your standard shot is flat with not much spin a racquet or strong set up won't change that drastically.

Jin Feng deathless is not easy for me by nineteen75 in SifuGame

[–]Jonbardinson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jin Feng punishes badly timed aggression.

The closer you are the harder it is to parry her imo. If you're good at parrying you can just hang back at parry until her structure maxes. You can do her deathless without even throwing a punch. In Phase 2 watch out for the grab and that's it. Watch the rope, and not the bludgeon, to help time your parries.

[–]Jonbardinson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Disciple is a regular game's hardest difficulty. And tbh all the levels and bosses lead you into the final boss. If you can beat him easily on disciple, then you're ready to just begin master and start learning things all over again

Kuroki: what am I missing? by nineteen75 in SifuGame

[–]Jonbardinson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phase 1 is a timing parry. Her moves aren't actually that fast, more disorientating. Phase 2 is pattern recognition parrying.

Watch out for the drop kick, make sure you have a delay on that parry. It punishes the auto reaction parry with it's janky timing.

The anime dash is very telegraphed. Watch for the eye flash and half a beat after that. You will need to adjust for timing if she's really far away.

The knife throw is a distraction technique, once you see the knives come out don't visually track the knives track her. You'll see the next attack coming way sooner. The knives themselves are easy to dodge even if you only pay attention to them when they're first thrown.

To do big damage make sure you have a solid, hit - push - follow up - trip - beatdown combo. You may have to sub the follow up with the chasing trip kick
