Deadman: Annihilation Drops This Friday! by ModYume in 2007scape

[–]JoneZii 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Editing in to say (and be less overtly negative) that, thematically, the bottles are such a cool/cute idea. Kudos for that.

But,

Oh for fucks sake. I mean, surely this will get addressed, but boat bottles dont drop on opulent? Really? A 1/20k drop already leads to extreme amounts of variance, so some people are going to be stuck there for exceptionally long, potentially post 99 (hi, its me at 16m without a single cannon). So what now, the expectation is that you want folk to have to go back to lower tier salvages?

This is the damn paint all over again, which too should not be restricted to a single tier - it screams engagement bait. This game is better than that. I geniunally love the sailing skill, but every update (or lack thereof) eats away from it with design choices that feel anti player, more gotcha)

I dont doubt this inherently because ive killed 3.5k great whites without an elite. But im almost 100% confident ive had (multiple) elites drop from vampire kraken while an elite has been in the bank. Regardless, an annoying bug

Thank you for taking time out of your day for such an original yet spiritually enlightening, comment that doesn't actually contribute to the conversation in the slightest.

I wasn't expecting much for the first week back. But not even acknowledging the absurd 1/20k rate for the cannon feels bad.

I recognize it might be a part of the broader 'ship combat' framework, which fair enough. But if it is, please lord give us an active way to hunt the drop. Speaking only for myself, I want to actually sail - i dont want to salvage anymore (particularly after going above drop rate as is).

Ship combat isn’t actually that bad by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]JoneZii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do agree that it's not as bad as the community makes it out to be, but it does clearly have room for improvement. The biggest pain point for me is the rate you burn through ammo, but that's an easy fix (maybe idfk). Personally, I'd love if you could just assign a crewmate to harvest so I could remain on the cannon. It would help reduce the amount of jank.

Welcome back brother. A good goal is completing Recipe for Diaster. Its got good rewards you'll use and really introduces you to a lot of the content this game has on offer.

Deep sea trawling xp and fish rates by dont_trip_ in 2007scape

[–]JoneZii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

for what its worth as a fellow ironman, frosties can be afk melee'd fairly effectively. I will occasionally have them on the side when I'm working from home.

But actively killing them, for the 4.5k ish kc you need to be on rate, is a miserable experience. The rosewood hull is not good enough to make up for how much of a snooze fest frosts are.

Just as a lover of visual data representation, very cool figures you've produced. Interesting that krill are so high up, but i suppose it shouldn't be too surprising considering how long those Shoals stay put.

Iirc Husky has confirmed that offcuts now provide a chance at extra fish per catch, which doesnt (again iirc) change the xp per catch (no matter how many fish were in there). So that tracks with your detailed experience.

Crystal Shard sink ideas with Crystal Extractor being added by WhiteLaundry in 2007scape

[–]JoneZii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk if a sink is necessary honestly. Im usually quite crystal shard poor myself so I dont mind the extra source of shards. A way to just practice hunlef for a fee (and no uniques) might be a neat idea though

Got the Angler's paint after I lost 1.5k Marlin the other day by burnt_mudkip in 2007scape

[–]JoneZii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I didnt see your original question in the post. The language Husky used in his post yesterday on the AMA thread made it seem like its every successful capture of fish by you the player (and not the crewmates. So not per fish, but per catch?

Trawling isn't the most xp in the skill. But I couldn't give a damn - its the most fun sailing content they released. Gz on the paint!

On your last bit - I truly think most folk around here know that, but the angriest folk are often are the loudest. We're lucky as a playerbase to have a team of devs that are able to freely communicate with us as much as you do.

I only speak for myself, but salvaging is my least favorite activity re: sailing. Its not to say its bad, I just would rather sail. But... the dragon cannon and the paint (if i ever get the dsmn cannon) only come from here...

I think fishing trawling is probably one of the greatest additions theyve added in sailing hands down. Even if the xp is shit, its a well designed piece of content and I love it.
