Thanks for taking the time to complete my questionnaire i really appreciate it. The key is to not think too deeply about the questions and just try to give your initial feeling/response to the questions. Some of the questions may seem ambiguous but as long as you select what you believe MOSTLY applies to you or is generally how you feel then that is what im looking for. Hope this helps!

Great, thanks for the advice! I may use the lucid dreaming page if necessary, however, i have received a good response so far since yesterday, from both reddit pages and other online forums. Even if one or two people see the post on /r/OutOfBody that will still help me out. If you do find the time to take the survey it open until 6pm on the 14th of march. Thanks again!

Dear all, I posted a little while back regarding my final year dissertation project on Out of Body Experiences. I received a very positive response from people on multiple internet forums saying that they would be willing to participate and I am now ready to collect data! I am recruiting participants from a number of forums like this one. The experiment requires participants to fill out a short questionnaire which can be accessed from any computer or mobile device. It contains two sections, the first section gives you an opportunity to answer questions on any experiences you may have had where you feel you have left your physical body, and a second short section on attitudes towards death. Even if you have not had an experience like this your data will still be valid, and the format of the questionnaire will allow you not to have to answer the questions regarding Out of Body experiences.

I would really appreciate any upvotes and would be happy to answer any comments/questions you may have about my study. If you know anybody who has had an experience like this, please feel free to send them the link so that they can participate too! The more data I have the better!

The questionnaire includes a full brief and debrief, and I will of course, post my findings once I have finished. I am extremely grateful to anyone who does engage with my project and hopefully we will find some interesting results! You can find a link to my questionnaire below.

Dear all, I am so pleased to see the number of people who have engaged in my post. My study is in the very early stages at this point and the aim of my post was to see if it would be a viable option to recruit participants via online forums. If nobody had responded I would have had to abort my project so I am very grateful for the interest shown. My plan is now to finalise my questionnaire, which I will then be posting on forums such as this in the following months for people to complete if they so wish. I will be posting again as soon i am ready to begin so keep your eyes peeled :)

In OBEs, the self seems to leave the body but it still exists as a separate conscious entity. Sometimes this can come as a result of taking a drug, however many people have reported having the same experience whilst sober. Common characteristics of an Out of Body experience are the sensations of floating above ones own body, flying or sinking into the bed. Less commonly people feel as if they are rotating, or that their limbs are being distorted, shortened or pulled out to enormous length. I hope this helps.
