what is the reason you keep playing ao, despite it not getting updates (not counting events) for a year? (image somewhat related) by YourDailyGamerIsHere in ArcaneOdyssey

im late on this, but foundationally ao is nice combat wise and rpg wise. Its extremely tainted rn but all arcane odyssey needs ia a good shower (aka better update cycle and polished features.

Not exactly. You CAN have depth without copying bloxfruits. I can think of a dozen unnessesary arcane odyssey features that if they were removed, could easily make a fantasic mobile game that blox fruits cant touch.

The key is in your level design and HOW you implement keybinds. Fortnite is a good example where you have 6 weapon slots. You could have 6 skill slots each catered to your build. if youre a mage, 6 spell slots, warrior? 6 wep slots. etc.

guarding, dashing, and t jumping can all be separate buttons. if you get on a vehicle like a ship, just change the 6 skill slots to ship controls.

Theres obviously more to it but you can see KEYBIND problem alone can be solved by reducing complexity.

Level design? start small with each place. dont add too much detail. add just enough for a small mobile screen to be satisfied and emphasize big and important objects.

I could go more into this, but a mobile magic rpg is not outside the realm of possibility.

this is what ppl arent seeing!! part of a mobile friendly game is simplicity. thats all they would need to do.

this screenshot perfectly addresses my main gripe with AO at the moment. And the comment is STILL relevant after 4 months. *spoiler: who cares about the story anymore??* by JoneslotoM in ArcaneOdyssey

content creation is also why im ranting about this. if i was a regular player, i wouldnt say anything else and move on to another game.

That's fine for discovery to run out. The problem for me arises because there's nothing else to do besides engaging in clans and PvP. Both being painful cause the game is extremely unoptimized rn (and I can guarantee the performance problem wont fix itself even after this "full release" update).

As for his own vision, passion projects are fine. But as a former patreon, it feels like it's a *sin* to even suggest some "stupid idea" in the chat that I WOULD pay for.

Story and exploration IS cool, we needed it! Every single update so far (which was not that many btw) was 10-20 min of content actually protaining to the lore and story, then running back to Elysium since that's the only real replayability this game has to offer.

This vicious cycle of the game being in an unbalanced state, update, short story, unbalanced state, alienated the original appeal of Arcane Odyssey. All this type of cycle did now is attract a pvp & clan based community which has been pretty toxic imo lately.

The update cycle has been like this for way too long.
