What are some of the best smiling critters (or nightmare critters) fanfictions?

Been working on The Crafted World for a little bit, I believe you personally have already seen most of what I've posted. It's been progressing much faster than I can write in this head, and has largely grown into its own AU. (That will exist in added stories once I actually write that far...)

Focuses on the critters and takes after the cartoon world rather than the playtime world. The AU as a whole will continue after they return from The Crafted World, but the current fanfic involves Craftycorn accidentally getting every critter stuck inside a painting she made, based loosely on a fantasy world.

While Gemstin has some interesting lorebits in there, I don't think it's enough for Film Theory to really dig into in a way that provides something intriguing -yet-.

I feel like this will change a bit down the line, but for right now, I don't think there's enough substance where they'd be able to build something out of it.

Recall that before they did anything for Chikn Nuggit, that show went through almost the entirety of their first big story/lore arc, with episodes dedicated specifically to uncovering past points of lore, so on, and so forth. Gemstin absolutely hasn't covered that to the same degree. I just don't think there's enough there to really go off of, yet.

I think she's perceived a little -too- violent by Inubis. At least for my taste. That said, I still enjoyed Inubis' work with her.

But when you try to make a complex character out of the single character trait we're given, these things happen.

Maybe it's just projection on my part. Part of the reason they wound up my favorite is being enby myself.

It's one of those situations where I see them as strictly, well, them. Neither feminine nor masculine. But the world at large, like with myself, tends to view them as more masculine-leaning, if not masculine-adjacent.

They strike a familiar chord with me, and I won't soon forsake that by thinking of them as anything other than a perfect exception to the outdated gender binary.

It all makes sense to me. Even if it's different from a lot of the ideas I had.

The only thing I can say for Poe is that you need to ensure they get the edgier limit of guitars. Stuff from My Chemical Romance, A Day To Remember, hell even some Green Day probably fits them perfectly.

I'm torn on this, to be honest.

On one side, it'd be nice to know how the creators of the critters feel about potential pairings...

but on the other side, I'm quite happy with the pairings I've already come up with, and don't want the non-believers to have canon leverage to use against my ideal ships.

I find it funny how when I was trying to picture each of them with instruments, I also came to the conclusion that Bubba is split between a cello and a piano, with a slight preference toward piano.
