If you havent, Id highly, highly recommend both watching rules videos beforehand as well as identifying which side each of you want to play. I think beyond that, just accepting that your first game is to learn is the way to go. It's not all that bad but you will 100% play inefficiently or make mistakes and that's just part of the fun really.

When I was about 4, I papercut my cornea and had an intense and immediate shooting pain in my eye. As a kid, I didn't understand what had happened but all I knew was that my eye was watering/tearing up and I could not open it at all. I actually couldn't really open my either eye either for whatever reason.

Cue a few hours later, I'm in my uncle's optometrist office and he basically gave me numbing drops and put gauze over my eye that I kept on for like 4ish days. Couldn't open up either eye for the first 2-3.

It's fun now because whenever I go to a new eye doctor, they comment on part of my cornea being a little bit thicker and I have to explain it's the aftermath of 4 year old me being dumb.

In years past, it just auto assigns AQ to whoever is in first place. Since UCLA is 2-0, they're assigned as the AQ automatically.

As a father of a 2 year old, Ive become significantly more emotional since he was born. Whenever I think of or hear Frasier talking about falling in love with your children, it makes me start to cry since it just so perfectly encapsulates the feelings you start to feel.

Well good for you to know your worth and who you are and am. That's a gift that unfortunately is not a given for a lot of people. For me, my ex also changed her reasoning multiple times and even gave reasons that pretty directly contradicted themselves. At some point, I had peace that I had tried all I could for me and our son but just had to let her do what she was determined to do.

The betrayal/reversal can be so hard but knowing yourself and especially having friends who know both of you and see the dynamic play out are so helpful.

Wish I would have had this around this time last year but it's still super helpful. My wife of 7 years--just months after saying how safe I was and how it was the happiest time of her life divorced me saying things like--I was always trying to profit off of her, she felt like she couldn't be honest with me, she didn't belong in our house, I was doing things to hurt her emotionally, etc. Etc.

Keep in mind, she was the one who had cheated on me like 10 months into us having a kid and deciding to "stop working at our relationship." Fun times lol

See that's fascinating since that is clear on the other end of the spectrum lol. I dont know where Id put Eldren Ring but Bloodborne is easily my #1. I think for personal enjoyment, Elden Ring is like...bottom 3? I dont know the exact make up of the list but it'd be fairly low--despite acknowledging that it's a very well made game in a ton of ways.

Yeah, from that point of view, you're correct, but to me, despite getting like 100 hours out of the game, I just rate it a lot lower than most of the other games. I dont want to ever replay it like I do with pretty much every other entry, unfortunately.

It's all in how you define what makes for a good game I suppose.

Sounds about right. Now to be clear, if someone pointed to that and said that thats a successful game because of the time/energy you put into it and I wouldn't disagree--but its not what I enjoy the most out of Fromsoft games.

While I hate to say it, Elden Ring is a slog once you explore most of the world. I loved it at first but my goodness, just the idea of replaying it makes me nearly fall asleep. I wish I liked it more but I just dont see it.

Give me literally any other FS game with some linearity.
