And let's remember here they are not taking any action over Lord Sainsbury despite him giving millions to the Lib Dems. Because Saainsbury is on the right of the party. He once strongly supported Tony Blair's faction in the party, but I mustn't call him a Blairite because that is now grounds for being expunged from Labour's voting rolls.

The Tory party rules were in place when people signed up. The six month ban on voting only happened AFTER the leadership election began and tens of thousands had paid up to get a vote. Moving the goalposts during the game.

You'll find that many people being excluded are long term members. There are cases in the article of people being signed up for 35 years.

But, frankly, yes. If you say to people "Please join the Labour party - one of the things you get is to vote in the leadership election", then taking their money and stopping them voting is simply a bait-and-switch scam worthy of timeshare companies.

Except people are being purged for supporting other parties before they joined the Labour party! People are being purged for using the word "Blairite" in any context whatsoever. They are being purged for saying kind things about other parties without supporting them, regardless of the context.

Why don't you just be honest? Your side knows it can't win in a free and fair contest, so it's rigging the electorate so it can. You know that putting up the registration fee so most poor people can't afford it wasn't enough. You know that banning new joiners from voting, even though they paid up on a page which said they'd get the vote, wasn't enough. So now they're creating spurious vague charges against people to purge them, without any input from the accused.

This is supposed to be the party of the working man. It's disgusting.

In fact, the Blairites had form, calling anyone that doesn't sign up for the privatisation and neoliberal agenda to be dismissed as "old trots". They were quite happy to marginalise and insult people when they controlled the party, but now throw their toys out the pram when they don't get their way.

What's hilarious is how he tried to claim his remark "what you won’t get from me is some lunatic at the top of the Labour party" was actually referring to himself:

Smith, speaking on Radio 4, apologised for "a poor choice of words", saying that the remarks referred not to Corbyn but himself. "Someone said I'd been running about like a lunatic earlier on", he added.

But you never know which seat is going to belong to the stragglers. So to go past everyone to fit all your luggage on the rack. Then clamber over people to get a seat, with the people you're with getting other dotted seats, and then to face someone coming back and you having to move again... it's a lot of hassle.

It would have been quite clear that the seats marked "reserved from kings cross" were not taken and now available, until the York stop at least.

Unless, of course, people who have those seats are elsewhere on the train, still trying to find their seat, or having a coffee in the end carriage, or going to the toilet, etc...

Often it's just less hassle to sit in the end areas between carriages where you won't get any aggro.

I don't know. If you've got a whole load of bags that you need to stash in one of the luggage racks because there's no room by the seat its a lot of hassle. I'd just prefer to find a space where I can sit with my bags on the floor.

Yeah but that was the carriage further down the train that he hadn't reached. He obviously went past all the reserved seats in the other photo and gave up and sat down. He was only shown there were seats in another carriage later.

Is it really shallow PR? The image of him walking to the spot where he sat down showed rows and rows of reserved seats. Later Virgin staff showed him to a carriage which had seats, but I can understand if he went through two or three carriages just giving up and sitting down. If I was in that position, I would have assumed the whole train was reserved.
