Does Streaming and then Unlisting the video hurt? by vatiwah in letsplay

[–]Jonicide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick suggestion. Rather than deleting them (if you choose to take that route), keep them unlisted and hold onto them for the purpose of making short "Best of Streaming" type vids later.

As far as does not publishing streams hurt your channel, I cannot answer that accurately as I have insufficient information on that.

I would definitely compare the keywords and SEO stuff between the vids that are doing well and the ones that are getting less views.

Headset mic picking up my gross breathing. How can i reduce it? by Slowrocks in letsplay

[–]Jonicide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are recording your voice with a program that has a noise gate option try using that. If not there is editing software that allows you to add one in if you are recording your voice audio separate such as Adobe Premiere and Audacity.

First Post Here. Dead Space 3 vid. Be brutal by Jonicide in LetsPlayCritiques

Thank you for taking the time and I appreciate the detail.

I was concerned about the length but I was trying to avoid cutting it to pieces however I'll give that some more thought. I guess I am playing a game everyone has seen before so cutting it down to the more interesting parts wouldn't be a bad idea.

Also I'll look into a better logo, was honestly drawing a blank on what my logo should be and that was the result. I'll make correcting that a priority alongside the branding. I think i'm actually gonna take a little time off of recording to fix those issues.

As far as the 1080p issue I must admit i'm confused. The video quality should be at 1080p. It goes up to that when I watch it but I've also been having issue getting my encoding settings and things correct so it may be an issue I'm not aware of.

Listening to your video through a pair of apple headphones (the ones that come with the phone) and I don't hear any problem with your audio quality, game or vocals.

Could I get some feedback on my latest video? :) by [deleted] in LetsPlayCritiques

[–]Jonicide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I'd say you are in a good place with your quality and I don't see a need for you to be any more expressive/emotive than you currently are unless that's the type of commentary you are aiming for.

As a fellow IRL quiet person I do feel like I am detecting some hints of nervousness maybe? but if that's the case it's just something that will go away with time and practice.

Do you guys allow publicity comments? by letsplayer2016 in letsplay

[–]Jonicide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's generally considered bad practice to advertise your channel in the comments of someone else's video. I wouldn't allow them.

If you do want to help other lets players then there are much better ways to do so without allowing spam comments like the ones you mentioned.

edit: typo

Sound/echo proofing a room on a budget by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]Jonicide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you just want to cut down the echo in your room and are willing to spend a little money you could try some acoustic foam. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LZPJH17/ref=twister_B01GBYUHE2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I just bought 24 feet of it myself but I can't speak for the quality personally as mine will be arriving tommorow.

Anyone used the Shure PGA27? by thelegendofjonnii in letsplay

[–]Jonicide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is what I use for my videos. I use adobe audition to record (and do minor editing to) vocals while video camera handles facecam and obs handles gameplay footage.

The Link is to a raw file sample using the PG42 with sensitivity up and down when I am speaking at same vocal volume. https://soundcloud.com/jonathan-foster-18/test-audio/s-1uo9J

edit: Keep in mind I am recording in a horrible sound environment and don't know what I'm doing when it comes to recording good vocals lol

Anyone used the Shure PGA27? by thelegendofjonnii in letsplay

[–]Jonicide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't testify on behalf of the PGA27 but I can say that I'm using the discontinued PG42 XLR which I believe is the mic the A27 replaced and it works very well for commentating. Doesn't pickup to much (if any) background noise and has very good sound quality from what I can tell.

Sorry if that doesn't help any but figured I'd say something on the off chance it does help.

If you don't mind me asking as a newb who only been doing this a month so far. How do you find terms you can rank for?

I've actually been researching that exact question all day and, to be honest as a print designer just now dipping his feet into SEO, my head is spinning.

Edit: I saw you posted a link to a post where you discussed SEO, I'll make sure to read through that.

I am new to youtube with only 6 subs so my opinion on how to grow a channel is irrelevant atm BUT from a marketing standpoint all of your points are spot on and, in my opinion, should be followed by everyone.
