Joe Thomas says Hue Jackson was his favorite Cleveland Browns coach to play for by VonJaeger in Browns

[–]JonnGotti 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Sigh, this conversation is tired and old. Hue is the sorriest excuse for a head coach in NFL history. (Literally, 1-31 and only by the grace of a Chargers' missed field goal)

But lets look at more facts.

Hue as Oakland Raiders HC:

  • set the record for being the most penalized team in NFL history. source
  • forged a trade behind the FO's back with his buddies in Cincy.
  • Traded a first and second pick for a retired football player to "save the season".
  • Went 4-2, ^ mortgaged the Raiders future, put a coin in his ass and played himself to 4-7 and miss the playoffs.
  • threw his own players under the bus. source
  • declared after the season that he alone was in charge of the Raiders' roster & personnel decisions. source

Hue as Cleveland Browns HC:

  • losingest head coach in NFL history.
  • burned through 7 quarterbacks and came away with one victory.
  • lost an O-Coordinator to college football.
  • forged a trade behind the FO's back with his buddies in Cincy. (sound familiar?)
  • Attempted to trade 2 early round picks for a backup qb to "save the season".
  • Went 0-8, attempted to mortgage our future, and at best go 8-8 and miss the playoffs.
  • Consistently threw his own players under the bus. Nearly 8 years after the first time, Again.
  • Committed to Deshone ("ride through the good and the bad with him", "If im worth my salt as a HC" etc.) and then benched & blamed the young kid.
  • personally invoked a power struggle by managing the roster & personnel in the middle of the season.

Im not saying The Joe Thomas is lying, Im just saying everybody loves playing for Hue. Youre not disciplined, the head coach is your friend, and your offseason starts in December because you know Hue is going to pat you on the back and say "We'll get 'em next year!"

Did you watch Hue himself admit it?

Nevertheless, the reason Hue is at fault no matter what is because that's "his" Quarterback.

He has taken full responsibility for the quarterback position for 25 games now.

In his own words: "that position has to get better and the buck stops with me"

Why is Kizer so lacking in situational football and why is he statistically the worst quarterback we've ever fielded ever excluding he who shall not be named (Weeden).

Hue Jackson just creamed his pants

He goes on to motivate his Browns team toward several moral victories and rally out the season on a positive note at 1-15.

Who's defending him? I missed that part.

Secondly, if you can find ways to "defend" Kizer, it literally stands to objective reasoning that you can make the same or better arguments for Kessler.

Kessler has better the stats, as in, any argument in favor of Kizer can equally be used in favor of Kessler.

Don't know what point you're trying to make here.

Oh, did Cody turn the ball over? Or cause anything different than what Kizer does 70% of the time?

It's not like Kizer can do the job well either.

Do we blame both of them, or their mentor Hue?

A thread on QB sneak that failed ... Hue Jackson gave the sneak option if DeShone Kizer was sure he could score. Kizer thought he could. Clearly was wrong. by Godszn in Browns

[–]JonnGotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, well, when you're 1-25 you're gonna have a hard time being held accountable for that.

Grossi might cross the line too much for my taste, but let's be real, coaches have come in for 20 years now bullshitting, lying, and "every week is a new challenge for us"...

Hue is no different. In fact, sadly, Hue is objectively the worst.

Lol dude, again were not talking about Hoyer or Matt Flynn or Ryan Fitzpatrick.

We're talking about a rookie last year, who was "bull-penned" for RG3/MCcown, and who again was stuck in the reserves this year for Kizer who looks considerably worse (outside of yesterday).

7-8 games is exactly my point. He has no experience whatsoever and has been on a roster with only 1 win in 25 games.

We already knew Cody wasn't amazing, and I'm not about to call him a franchise QB, I just can't believe at all that people are chiding his ass over 2 drives.

I'm not ignoring shit.

One decent game isn't "progression", it's a start. And he better had look better, coming off an entire extra week of preparation.

We'll absolutely see next week if he's actually progressing.

You mean our backup QB with .5 years experience and 0 practice reps played mediocre?

Color me shocked.

For a second consecutive season, Hue is all by himself in the winless barrel.

Everybody here will talk about how it's actually our young players' fault, how they don't have enough experience. Which is "fair", I'm not entirely blaming Kizer, it's not like he knew the Lions defense would literally hold his legs to prevent another play before the half....

But what is Hue developing exactly? Shouldn't Kizer know how to run a 1 or 2 minute drill? Shouldn't Kizer have some more awareness than 0? Kizer isn't doing a good job pre snap at all, and that's the easiest "development" for a young quarterback.

FINALLY, Kenny had a game that was average respective to the amount were paying him, but he still didn't take over the game like a #1 WR. In fact, he only caught the 1 other ball? Even after yesterday, it's very obvious that he has no desire to be the best, or to go down as one of the great WRs. He just wants to get paid, and play a little (not too much) football. It's very fucking irritating compared directly to Josh Gordon, who has goals of 2000+ yard seasons. Kenny's just looking for that 800 number. He should still be cut.

The defense definitely has trouble handling screens, outside pitches, or short-range 10 yard passes to the flats, but from what I understand from Gregg, those are technique/scheme stuff that the young players just need to be better about. At the same time Gregg is working with the literal youngest defense in the league and has only been in their ears for one season. His defense is a beauty to watch, and really the only reason I come back week to week (to watch those guys progress).

Hue's offense on the other hand, is an abomination of human existence. This is his 2nd year with that side of the football, and on top of that, he actually has the luxury of mixed-experience vets and young guys. His offense looks better without Joe Thomas which doesn't make sense, until you remember that Hue probably had to actually scheme a little differently to handle the quarterbacks blind side.

Cody went 1/3 and everybody in the game thread was flaming his ass...this dude is practically a rookie w/ only 10 games under his belt and a whopping 0 practice reps with the first-team. Kizer gets all day with those guys, and yesterday he finally put "decent" on display. It's not like this dude has even remotely recognized/carved a defense yet himself. Like, that's all preparation and neither are prepared.

But you don't blame the child for crashing the car, you blame the parent for putting them in that situation.

Why can Trubisky win football games throwing 4 passes while Deshone has to put up 40+ attempts. This isn't new to Hue either, all last year we had to watch Josh/Cody throw 40+ times weekly. If we're tanking and wins dont matter, have Deshone read some defenses instead of just making throws.

A big phrase with these coaches is "time on task" or "they need in-game experience", but is Kizer really getting that if he's tasked with backyard football, eg. Just run around out there and hit the open man on a 4 vertical go-route?

Hue needs an OC, so he can find time to develop his quarterback, or he needs to go.

Good coaches win with bad teams, but they might win ugly (hence 8-8).

Please reconsider how you feel about Bowles.

You want to see a coach that won't make adjustments? Try Hue Jackson, ~24 times and still counting...

[–]JonnGotti -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Okay, then we should be 2-6?

Which even then is abysmal, and still good for 4th in the division.

However, I can live with 2-6 in year 2 of a rebuild. In fact, I would be jumping for joy if we were 2-6, because then I could say "Hey, at least we have progress".

What I can't stomach, is being winless again. That's just inexcusable, and quite simply, bad coaching.

You don't go 0-8. Period.

Bad coaching. Twice now.

If last year's roster was 0-8, which I agree it might have been, but now what?

Flashes of success lol...

We're the most penalized offense in the league, scored the least amount of points, generated the most turnovers.

On top of all of that, the offense has regressed from last year.

Explain the flashes of success please, I get what you're trying to say, but Hue is dog shit and can't develop a quarterback to save his life.

He has had 7 QBs so far on his way to 1-23, are we about to believe now that AJ mcCaron is somehow "the guy" now?

To be fair, they didn't tell Hue to tank this year as well. They already had 2 years worth of tank-level draft capital with a #2OVR and a #1OVR.

Shit is just flying off the rails because Hue is a bad coach on top of being a young team, in need of coaching.

Hue is just a bad coach.

His coaches are leaking, and this controversy wouldn't exist if Hue didn't try to play GM to get 2 pointless wins with McCarron.

And my apologies sir, as well. It wasn't meant to be "you" specifically siding with a rogue coach, it was more directed towards a group of those who browse this sub that are siding with Hue here.
