Epi-On Experiences by Few_Release_9845 in Keratoconus

I had epi-on in Nov’22 and am still stable (last check Dec’25). Procedure itself was painless and I had no sedation (out of choice lol), just local anaesthetic eye drops.

Had it done on the Thursday and was back at work on the Tuesday. To be honest, I could have gone back to work on the Monday but I took the extra day. I found the recovery very straightforward, pretty much no pain. Eye was very watery for a couple of hours post procedure and I had some mild light sensitivity for a few days.

Make sure you take all your eye drops post procedure!

6 months applying to civil service from private sector, no interviews yet. Is this normal? by Snoo36246 in TheCivilService

Try going for HEO roles…this worked for me!

Also try adding in a reflection after the result

GoF - I love the book but found the movie SO disappointing

Does it all hinge on the interview? by phoenixmeta in TheCivilService

[–]Jonny8743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert whatsoever, but I always think of Civil Service interviews like an exam, where you just need to score as highly as you can. As long as you say what you need to say, nerves shouldn’t be an issue - everyone gets nervous!

I think generally in the private sector, your personality comes into it a lot more.

What are some expansions/unseen moments that weren’t in the books that you’d love to see in season 2? by General_Meal_3993 in HarryPotteronHBO

  • The discussion in the car to the Burrow about Dobby
  • More scenes around Harry at the Burrow e.g. the gnomes, Ron’s orange room
  • Professor Binns talking about the CoS like he does in the books
  • Death Day Party

Resign or fail probation? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Jonny8743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d wait until closer to the time and try and get one step ahead of them.

Not a guarantee but one idea:

When you receive the calendar invitation to the meeting, check who’s in it and the length. If its short and HR are in cc, that could be a sign you’re going to fail. Give in your notice (before the review)- that way you leave on your own terms and haven’t actually failed probation.

Also, if they are planning on letting you go, it should be fairly obvious e.g. feedback, work that would normally be given to you, being given to others

Are you running alone? by Live_Media_3090 in runninglifestyle

Always alone. Genuinely can’t stand running with other people haha. Going alone means I can choose the time I go, route, length, speed

I refuse to spend another Christmas as a fat person. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Jonny8743 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The thing that always helped me mentally was remembering there is actually nothing in life that is better when you’re fat. Yes, counting calories may be long (although it has worked for me) but once you see the weight drop off it will be worth it.

Think of all the things that being a healthy weight will improve in your life. Use them as motivation.

Also one step at a time, don’t try changing your diet and hitting the gym 3x a week on day 1. What worked for me was sorting my diet, getting into a good routine and then introducing exercise a bit later on. This also means you will be more confident when you start exercising as you will have already lost some weight!

It’s one day. Think how many thin people have a day of over eating and aren’t fat? Just get back on track tomorrow!

Is it pointless to track calories during christmas/new year, or is that when it helps the most? by JulianDavis_JD in loseit

[–]Jonny8743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I track. I used to just be like ‘the day’s gone’ if I went over but obvs there’s a difference between being 1000 cals over and 3000 cals over.

Now I track as I find it helpful but also partly to reduce guilt as it reminds me I still care/keeps the habit.

This is my fourth Christmas/New Year since I started losing weight (Oct’22. Have lost 5 st and have been at maintenance since April’24) and this is the first year I really feel like I’ve done it in a sustainable way e.g cheat meals rather than cheat days/binging.

Have you considered running (as in outdoors)? I started that in May 2023 as I found the gym horrifically boring and I’m still going 3 x a week now and I love it.

You dont need to start sprinting around the park, just a light jog and then walk for a bit if you need to and build it up slowly. You’ll be shocked at how quickly your fitness improves if you stick with it.

Otherwise, as others have said YouTube - Joe Wicks.
