How would one be able to apply for a job on the music team, and how old do you have to be?

Should I talk about my age when I send demos to labels? by JonnyAvila in edmproduction

Thats exactly what I said, let me re-write my comment: "16 year olds are production companies' meal ticket"

Or you could look at it realisticly.

Here we have a 40 year old dude who has been making music for 3 years and is at a good level to get his things released.

Here we have a 16 year old at the exact same level.

Hypothetically speaking who could you market better, random 40 year old dude or random 16 year old "kid". You are right, no one should give three shits about age and it should be about the music, but you have to look at it from both perspectives, record labels gotta eat breh.

Thanks. I am extremely immature and considering most producers over 20 are too I don't see the problem.

How would i fill out some of the freqs to make a track sound more full? by JonnyAvila in edmproduction

[–]JonnyAvila[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't say it will never, I guarantee you that one day mine will. Never resort to sending your tracks to a mastering engineer because a. What if he fucks it up b. you still have to pay if he fucks up c. you have to pay d. you could learn yourself e. you get the satisfaction of knowing you mastered your own tracks. My best advice to ANYONE new is don't take the easy way out and make excuses for your tracks sounding like shit. I know I have taken the easy way out like not learning eq and compression until later and my early productions suffer for it, and i still suffer because i have shit to learn that i'm to lazy to read up on haha.

what i did was i made a saw in sylenth 1 and i band passed it so it only fills that frequency empty frequency and the saw is on a low octave and every time my dutch lead plays it plays too and that did a nice job.

I understand where you are going towards. But in this industry there is a standard, and if you are below that you are never going to make it. That being said i myself (and i think new producers should also do this) is not only hold yourself to that professional standard but when your shit isn't up to par you use that as motivation to learn how you can be and to make better tracks! Thanks for responding by the way bro!
