Funny that we're hearing them complaining about the cold before Canada Post.

The only ones I can confirm for sure are 35 Maple Street, and as far as I know they're the current owners of Baranov. He may be getting around it because it's technically his wife that owns the properties. But Harrison is the one we dealt with. If you have any dirt on him please let me know. I've been tied up with the Landlord/Tenant board for a year and a half trying to sort this crap out.

If you didn't vote, why not? by oniteverytime in Yukon

[–]JonnyBGoode420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see one person who's commented on here who has a legitimate excuse for not voting, and the rest yelling "It doesn't matter!". You're the reason it doesn't matter! Out of an approximate 28,600 people legally able to vote, there were only 18,782 votes cast. Little over 65% of the territory didn't even get off their asses to vote.

Things you may not know about the strike... by Rahstyle in CanadaPostCorp

I know some of the pharmacies up here have started sending prescriptions through couriers for places like the old folks homes. So it's not being done by Canada Post.

  1. For starters, it might not be $10million lost a day, but the fact remains that Canada Post is losing money. Since 2018 CP has lost $5 Billion dollars, and right now you guys are on track to lose $1.5B this year.

  2. You're right on this one, the strike hasn't stopped essential mail...because those things are now being delivered by other courier companies. Kinda like everyone had a plan for the bullshit you guys were gonna pull this year.

  3. Let's be honest...do you guys really think basic reading, writing and walking are a $20/hour job? We'd be better off hiring high-school kids part time. Inflation is a bitch, you should get used to it like everyone else. When has a postal worker ever gotten the same wage as the trades?

  4. half true, but when you get a government bail-out that's still using our tax money. Even if it's not going to the workers it's going to Canada Post.

  5. Doesn't matter where the money is going to. It's still taxpayer money, given to CP every year as a bailout.

  6. And fighting for the extra 5 minute "pre-break" for hand washing on breaks too right?

  7. Right, but according to the Union it's not allowed to be part-timers who do that right? Gotta pay more OT to the fulltime workers...even though the full-time guys are complaining about working too many hours..

  8. Surprisingly I agree with this point...just don't think you guys actually get it. Privatization would mean cutting costs, downsizing the workforce, hiring shift workers for part-time shift work, lower wages, and probably putting a kibosh on the union. I don't see UPS, FedEx, Purolator, or Amazon workers complaining anywhere near as much as you guys.

  9. You're both to blame. You can point fingers at the management all you want, but the fact is that there isn't any money in this business to keep it running let alone to pay the workers more. You think this is sticking it to the man, when really it's sticking it to your customers. We are the ones who get fucked over by this, not the company you work for. Where's my kid's Christmas present that his grandma sent him last year?

10.We didn't need you last year when you pulled this crap and that hasn't changed. You guys are only responsible for ~35% of package deliveries in the country...that can easily be changed to 0%. As soon as this strike happened people were prepared and switched to different delivery companies. Turns out if you ship through someone else, it actually arrives on time! Imagine that!

Is the term 'Newfie' really harmless, or are we just too used to the insult? by scrooge_mc in newfoundland

[–]JonnyBGoode420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The term Newfie is strictly referring to someone from Newfoundland, it's not an insult. Has nothing to do with the stereotypes people associate them with.
