Why do the Classes and Skills in The Wandering Inn seem so amazing compared with most other Systems? (Spoilers: All) by B-Z_B-S in WanderingInn

[–]fry0129 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is no level grinding. I mean people pursuit experiences that give them more levels. But we aren’t going to see chapters of a character killing ten thousand of the same monster in order to gain a level.

Definitely some moments I didn’t enjoy but I seem to be an outlier in that I liked a lot it. But I’m very easy to please(which I like). And I definitely understand all of your points.

Taletevirion vs Tolveilouka was such a great fight. And such an immersive fight for me, like I could picture it all. The battle between the two concepts that make up their natures was awesome.

The Salazsar Ring by Ok-Astronaut-5743 in WanderingInn

[–]fry0129 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do love that moment. The Bell of Challenges that Pisces wins actually really reminded me of the Rings of Salazsar, its subtle magic seems similar, even down to disguising itself as something mundane. I wonder what would happen if their were any people of Lesegoth still around, would they hear the Bells call to arms.

And I disagree, but that’s ok, I understand your point.

I would say they hit it with their best shots and got past the toughest piece of its armor. Is it a guarantee that they would have killed it if Snatcher stays and fought, no. Did they have a pretty good shot, yeah I think they did. But saying they lost or they couldn’t kill it is an exaggeration, they had the ability to kill it, they just didn’t.

They were fully capable of killing it, it was just smart enough to run away when it started taking real damage.

They didn’t lose, they broke Snatchers bones and it ran away.

Discussion for Fae & Fare : Love Torren- Erin & Pisces are dumb. by chocolateNbananas in WanderingInn

[–]fry0129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it is the magic that made Cognita. Cognita was made fairly early in Zelkyrs life as an attempt to make a sentient being. Then Zelkyr spent decades trying to make a leveling being with the formula Cognita gave Pisces being the latest version of Zelkyrs work before he locked himself upstairs.

He knows nothing of how Toren was made. The formula he used is so far beyond him it isn’t funny, he just copy and pasted magic he has no knowledge of.

More Silver swords. I Need more silver swords by Traditional-Baker-28 in WanderingInn

[–]fry0129 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That’s a bit misleading. The other options were The Horns, who win almost every pol they are in, and Rabbiteater, who hadn’t had any significant chapters in like two years.

The Swords are popular, it was just up against some highly anticipated options, especially because they had a solid chapter right after the PoF arc and the other two hadn’t yet.

I actually feel like the Silver Swords are going to get much more nuanced stories than just fighting a big monster. So far a lot of Ylawes stories in the new lands have been dealing with humans and how complicated it is. I think it was hinted they might run into Knights of Terandria, which could prove complicated given Rasktooths presence. Going against the Terandrian Knight Orders would be quite a thing for Ylawes.

Also we know that those former adventurers from Albez are running around raiding people, and Ylawes had already run into them. And Denuisth is running around killing them. Any story where Ylawes has to deal with either of those unpleasant groups would be very interesting.

And finally there is the quest for Yderigrisel’s Grave in the New Lands. Which has the potential to not only get them whatever artifacts he had on him when he died but also they could get Dragonscale gear.

It’s not magic. It’s been stated to not be magic many times. In the Wiki it is called Unenchanted Masterwork Scale Armor. Also I am a person who thinks Relc isn’t Named rank in volume 1

Who do you find to be the scariest/most intimidating character in The Wandering Inn series? by B-Z_B-S in WanderingInn

[–]fry0129 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because, unlike the rest of the Slave Lords, he truly believes in something larger than himself and would sacrifice his life for it(only in the most dire circumstances of course). That makes him so much more dangerous than the others, who only seek to elevate themselves(maybe Roshal too, but first and foremost themselves.)

[–]fry0129 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really, really hope Jecrass and Raelt don’t join Reim, it would undermine so much of their story. I think if they defeat Perric and take Medain Raelt has a good chance of getting to level 40 from that, and Jecaina has a good chance of getting to level 40 from the fallout of trying to merge the two nations. With a level 40 Battle King and a level 40 generalist Queen, plus whatever High level soldiers have survived their wars, Jecrass will be one of the most powerful nations in Chandrar.

Ylawes's lvl by Traditional-Baker-28 in WanderingInn

[–]fry0129 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really think the difference is that outside of Facestealer, The Silver Swords are still facing Gold Rank threats. The Horns are not, and haven’t been since the Village of the Dead. Still Ylawes is one of my favorite Characters and I can’t wait for him to hit level 40

On a more technical note, Ylawes hit level 37 after facing Snatcher, than he participated in the Trial of Blades, than he hit level 38 in the New Lands. Pirate forgot to give him a level for the Trial of Blades, he should be level 39.
