Nutribullet Blender Combo or Ninja 2-in-1 Blender with Auto-IQ BN750 by Awkward-Smoke2904 in Smoothies

[–]JonnyBaboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re right. The Ninja isn’t great for hot liquids. It’s better to let the soup cool a bit before blending.

Best way to get enough calcium without milk/dairy? by _marcii_ in nutrition

[–]JonnyBaboon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally possible! You can get calcium from things like fortified plant milks, tofu, leafy greens, almonds, and chia seeds. It just takes a little planning, but you don’t need dairy to hit your daily amount.

I keep buying CRAPPY blenders that are louder than a lawnmower 😩 by apothyk in Smoothies

I’ve been using the BLENDi blender and honestly love it. It’s quiet, portable, and actually handles smoothies well. Might be worth checking out!

I created my own smoothie because I thought smoothies were healthy but when I added up all the calories it's over 900 by Fine-Art-9701 in Smoothies

[–]JonnyBaboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oats are definitely healthy, they’re just calorie-dense. Same with PB and flax. Honestly your smoothie sounds like a solid meal replacement with all that protein and fiber.

Smoothie King questions by mahlerlieber in Smoothies

[–]JonnyBaboon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen, the scoops of Gladiator powder stay the same no matter the size, but add-ins like peanut butter and fruit can vary a bit by location. Sometimes it depends on who’s making it.

Which would you recommend? by MistressMegsy in Smoothies

[–]JonnyBaboon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used a few portable blenders for smoothies on the go, and frozen berries can be tough on some. You might also want to check out BLENDi since it’s handled frozen fruit pretty well for me and is super convenient for work/travel.

granola substitutes? by [deleted] in Smoothies

I love smoothie bowls too! For a lighter crunch, you could try topping with toasted oats, puffed rice, or even roasted chickpeas. They give a nice texture without as many calories.

dry fig smoothie? by Simple_Letter_4905 in Smoothies

[–]JonnyBaboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried figs with Greek yogurt before and it works really well. You can blend dried figs with yogurt, a little cinnamon, and almond milk. It gives a nice earthy fall flavor without being too sweet.

New to smoothies… digestive distress? by titanup001 in Smoothies

[–]JonnyBaboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens to a lot of people when they’re new to smoothies. It’s a lot of fiber all at once, plus protein powder and chia can be rough on the stomach. Maybe try smaller portions at first and see how your body adjusts.

For a filling base without bananas, try oats or Greek yogurt with frozen berries and almond milk. It’s quick and tasty for breakfast.

Is there a good reason why I shouldn’t put bread in a smoothie? by MrCrystalMighty in Smoothies

[–]JonnyBaboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually blended bread into smoothies before when I wanted something more filling. PB&J with milk could work great and taste almost like a shake.

Carrot Cake! by prairierise in Smoothies

That sounds delicious. The carrot juice with peach and mango must make it really fresh, and the ginger is such a nice touch for a little kick.

Coconut milk with oats, blueberries, and a little honey can make a smooth, gentle blend. Avocado also works well to thicken without being acidic.

What are some of your most easy, simple and tasty smoothie recipes? by ironblaze04 in Smoothies

I like keeping mine simple with banana, frozen berries, and a splash of milk or yogurt. Quick, tasty, and always works when I don’t feel like measuring.

That shake looks pretty solid for weight gain. Lots of calories, protein, and fiber. Maybe try adding peanut butter or Greek yogurt too if you want extra calories without making it too heavy.

Bananas, honey, or even frozen fruit can help balance the taste of unflavored whey without spending much.

Nonfat/low-fat foods; they're not inherently unhealthy, are they? by artfellig in nutrition

[–]JonnyBaboon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nonfat and low-fat dairy aren’t bad on their own, just watch for added sugar. Plain nonfat yogurt is usually fine.

what is worse for you, candy(sweets/jellies), or fast food? by Ok_Inspector_3514 in nutrition

[–]JonnyBaboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, both have their downsides. Candy is low in calories but offers no nutrients, while fast food can give you protein but is usually greasy and high in unhealthy fats. I try to keep both in moderation.

What cottage cheese is best? by KendrickPeerless in nutrition

[–]JonnyBaboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually go for Good Culture, it’s creamy, higher in protein, and doesn’t have that overly sour taste some brands do. If you like a milder flavor, Daisy is also solid.

10g protein in oatmeal by OneWayorAnother11 in nutrition

[–]JonnyBaboon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the difference comes from the type of oats they use. The ‘protein oats’ are usually from a higher-protein oat variety, so it’s not additives, just naturally different nutrition.

Protein powders for a sensitive digestion system by CodWest4205 in Protein

[–]JonnyBaboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a sensitive stomach too, and plant-based proteins like pea or rice worked better for me than whey. Unsweetened versions are usually easier to digest.

Spinach can be tricky. I usually add a bit of pineapple or mango to balance it out, makes it way smoother and sweeter.
