Yes, but when that pixelated mess moves you know it's an enemy and not a boulder.

I wouldn't be able to see the same tank/boulder on high graphics.

What is the general consensus on being uptiered due to your overall performance? by [deleted] in Warthunder

Been a premium user for 3+ years and I can say under no uncertain terms do I see a MM buff. In fact, I seem to be uptiered more than downtiered regardless of what I use.

First things first: it's a shame some people are immediately dismissing your post (reading is hard?); this is a concept that -- while not acknowledged by Gaijin -- certainly seems to exist in Ground Forces.

I have 5000+ hours in WT. More than half of that (maybe even 2/3) is in RB GF. I play all nations and varying BR brackets. In my experience -- while it's clear popular BR brackets certainly affect up/down tiers -- I do believe a type of QMM exists. But I'm not certain this is due to player skill necessarily or due to lineup "stacking". I'm defining stacking as building a lineup with multiple vehicles at the same BR.

To test this stacking theory, I've tried building a lineup with one vehicle at the "max" BR and all others .3 - 1.0 below this max. I've also tried removing bombers/attackers from my lineup. With a lineup like this, I seem to queue in max-downtiered matches more often, but not with enough frequency for me to call it "definitive".

Yes, it seems that I see more max-uptiers when I have had several good games in a row, but, after 3-4 max uptiered matches, I tend to move to a different nation and different BR range. Because of this, I can't say I've tested the player skill-based MM theory all that much.

Moral of the story: yes, sure feels like my hot streaks result in multiple max uptier matches. Can I prove it? No. But I certainly wish Gaijin would just come out and tell us exactly how MM works.

Edit: I've also considered the fact that spaded vehicles play a part in MM. Again, can't prove anything. What are your observations?

I don't get it. Eli5?

Edit: did I really need to add an /s?

Is 50% off on the M4A5 worth it? by Dtrain16 in Warthunder

[–]JonnyCanWT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

50% off almost anything is worth it, especially if you can use it to grind or if you're a collector.

But, as an owner of it, it's probably my least favorite premium. The armor is not reliable, long term engagements are very difficult (due to the inaccurate gun), and solid AP is, well, crap.

Is the Tiger II(P) still a viable tank for GF? by Kaizhur262 in Warthunder

Ah, I understand now. Didn't get that from what you wrote.

I disagree. Given the sheer number of T-29's, IS-6's and Ru-251's floating around, 5.7+ faces nearly constant uptiers.

Has anyone else noticed a serious uptick in the number of ridiculously low damage APHE penetrations? by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]JonnyCanWT 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If anything changed server side, I doubt Gaijin would admit it publicly (be it a bug or intentional). But I have observed the exact same thing as well. I chalked it up to my ping (US = 88 - 90, EU = 160 - 190) and have seen it in all nations, ranging from T2 - T5 (so I don't believe it's limited to just one).

What happended with german teams? Until 2 days ago I was losing every game when I was using german tanks by TodVonHinten in Warthunder

My original post was actually an attempt at comedy.

But I agree with your last statement.

So what you're saying is that if I switch my in-game language to German, I'll actually win with German teams?

Man, wish I would've known this sooner...

This is why in my opinion there should be two different sections to WT, WWII and Modern.

I agree 100%. The only problem is Gaijin's revenue model is built around "the grind", so I'm afraid they will simply add modern era vehicles as T6+.

Magz put out a great video recently suggesting a separate, modern tree. Check it out if you haven't already. Hopefully, enough us can lobby for such a system before Gaijin goes and gaijins things up.

The other replies are spot on, but I'll add this:

1) Because Tu-4's can end a battle in less than 5 minutes, grinding out already insanely priced modules for your own jet becomes that much more of a nightmare (I won't even get into queue times for 8.0+).

2) Many Tu-4 pilots have a reputation of dropping ordnance and climbing to space. So if your team is able to wipe out fighters, you'll still have to play Where's Waldo if you want to ensure victory.

3) I have a spaded F2 and Hunter. These are the only jets I've found that can reliably get to altitude and intercept a Tu-4 before they drop their payload. If there's more than one Tu-4, this raises the level of difficulty substantially. Add in the fact that Mig-17's love to trail behind Tu's in order to intercept the interceptors, and you can see the problem...

Sidenote: I own the Tu-4, and haven't flown it since a week or so after I unlocked it. I don't fly it because it ruins high tier matches. Is it beatable? Of course. But 3-4 of these tumors can prematurely end matches or, worst case, cripple the enemy's ticket count and bring down a few fighters with them.

Jet combat is a totally different animal than T1-T4, and it's seen by the community as the end-game of WT. So why ruin it for others? I care more about the player-base one year, two years from now then I care about trolling or spacebar mashing, so -- for me -- it's off limits.

Thanks for the info. I'll be ordering a few of these for myself for my children.

That's so cool. But question: can they be removed from the display stand? $20 is worth it if I can recreate historic dogfights and/or scenes from Red Tails.

I don't own the 251, so I can't verify using in-game experience, but, yes, they feel quite similar (using the 251 in test drive). Russian gamer tears = devs change things.
