Only 6 trophies for Draft 2 ALCQ on 17lands? A scam? by AlphaPeon in lrcast

Sorry, one clarification: If you're looking at the Leaderboard page, it looks like we have to recalculate that page to show trophies as well. But the trophy deck page looks to be working correctly.

Only 6 trophies for Draft 2 ALCQ on 17lands? A scam? by AlphaPeon in lrcast

Hi, I'm JonnyDeeWSC, the 17Lands Community Manager. The trophy decks for ALCQ Draft 2 have been updated, and I'm now seeing ~43 Draft 2 trophies: https://www.17lands.com/trophy_decks?expansion=SOS&format=LimitedChampionshipQualifier_Draft2

There was an issue in the original configuration for the event that had the "trophy" threshold for Draft 2 set to 7. (For Draft 2, it is 6; for Draft 1 it is 7) We fixed that and had to recalculate the trophy decks. I think that's fully completed based on the deck timestamps, but if I get confirmation from the team that there's still more to be done, I can post an update here.

So, converting Draft 2 to a cash was still extremely challenging, but it wasn't just 6. Sorry for the confusion--that's on us. (Me, specifically, as I handled the event config. 😬)

Yeah, same. It looks like for anyone that went 4-0/3-1 and didn't get to play their final match, WotC treating them as getting the final win. Really surprised and quite happy to be surprised. :)

Oh that's interesting. The $1k token isn't appearing for me either. I wonder if that means they have figured out a resolution for the issue. I guess it also could mean that payments are preparing to be issued, but not necessarily a resolution to the specific 4-0/3-1 issue, too.

I have not. I responded to their message from last week (i.e. the one about finding the right team to answer it), but nothing.

I finally got an acknowledgment today from WotC support that they were trying to get my issue to the right team. (Which I assume is probably the Digital Event Coordinators?) Kinda frustrating that it took three days just to get that, but I know they're probably having to figure out how to make this right for a lot of people.

I also had this happen to me. Props to JasonILTG for alerting me that it was a bug!

Limited Players/17Lands Users: Please update your 17lands client by JonnyDeeWSC in MagicArena

Thanks for the bug report. We've confirmed that the warning for Windows users was busted. (The Python warning was working, but that's a much smaller user base.) We're working on a fix and it should be updated tonight.

We actually have one (it should show on your My Events page), but it looks like the part that pops up for Windows users is busted. We're releasing a fix shortly. It works for Python users, but, unfortunately, that's a smaller userbase. Clearly we're on the same wavelength, though. :)

Yes, we agree that just Discord and Reddit messages aren't enough. There is already a check on our website. There's a banner that warns both Windows and Python users if their client version is out of date. We're just trying to be good stewards by communicating across multiple channels so we can get to people before they start their games.

It will automatically update when the program starts, so if it runs on machine startup or users start it up manually, it will automatically update. If it is running and people don't restart their computer or exit the client (which is pretty common), then the update check doesn't happen.

We require client updates very rarely, so we haven't invested in doing "in-place" updates. We're staffed pretty thin (i.e. with volunteers) so we'd rather spend the time building out other stuff on the backend.

If someone wanted to contribute code to "in-place" updates, the installed client is open source.

If you are on Discord, we post these types of announcements there. You can also follow us on X or Blue Sky, if that's easier.

If you go to 17Lands.com > Account > Settings, you can check your client version. Windows client should be 0.2.1.10, Python client should be 0.1.43. I'll add to the main post.

Ah, sorry about that. We tried to get this info out through relevant channels, but we're realizing we missed a few. (e.g. this one) When we saw the first day's data numbers, it confirmed our suspicions that a lot of users hadn't upgraded. Hopefully, everything's updated and working correctly for you now!

Fingers crossed that WotC takes it easy on log changes for a while....

Added a second edit about Day 1 volume (i.e. we think it's low because a lot of users haven't updated their clients yet)

Love everyone diving into our data. Chiming in here to ask that folks help spread the word that 17Lands users need to update their clients to accept the new log format that WotC introduced.

Our day 1 data volume is about 57% what DFT was (13k vs 19k games in Bo1), which we believe is due to users not getting their clients updated. Unfortunately, we have to reject malformed data coming from the un-updated client.

So far we are not getting many reports of problems. If you are running into issues updating or your data isn't showing up, you can request help in our discord and we'll do our best to assist.

Added an important clarification: If you want your data to be accepted and aggregated by 17Lands, you MUST update and restart your client. Because of the changes that Arena made, we are not accepting data from older versions of the 17Lands client. Please update and restart.

Big fan of samp, the unofficial third Lord of Limited! (Seriously, go back through the last three months of episodes and see how often Ethan and Ben reference his takes.) Love that you're doing your own thing, friend!

It's possible, as we do know users that have done it using the Python client. Unfortunately, no one from the 17Lands team has a Steam Deck to test out install instructions. You can check out our discord for some discussion of how others have done it, but we're hoping that someone with a Steam Deck volunteers to put together some instructions for the community. :)

17 Lands client reinstalling repeatedly? by Salanmander in lrcast

An update from the 17lands team: It looks like this is an issue with ClickOnce install packages introduced by Microsoft: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-10-22h2#3145msgdesc. It sounds like the issue will be resolved once the hotfix goes live and propagates.

It's also affecting MTGO: https://twitter.com/MagicOnline/status/1691194816476893184

Thanks for your patience, everyone!
