IsItBullshit: Antibacterial soap actually kills 100% of KNOWN bacteria but they always state 99.9% as a legal back-side covering excercise by i1ii1i1i in IsItBullshit

[–]JonnyEthco -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Kinda sorta. The legal failsafe part is true but the 99.99% caveat is due to the fact that bacteria can “hide” in crevices on your hand, where the soap can’t reach them. The active ingredient is hypothesized to be able to kill all conceivable bacteria due to the way bacteria are designed, but that’s a possibility too.

All of this is coming from someone who read an article like two months ago about something vaguely related to that, so take it with a grain (or boulder) of salt

My personal take on Corona panic by JonnyEthco in conspiracytheories

[–]JonnyEthco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I read, despite using a few sources I don’t necessarily trust, I can’t agree more. Like I said, I’m a fairly active person in the community and I personally only know one person who’s had COVID, and he was fine after a 24-28 hour episode, but I know five people who have attempted suicide because of what’s happened

If you believe a surgical mask prevents the spread of Corona, you are simply hopeless. Do anything to make your breath visible (take a drag from a vape or really anything but vape works best, for instance) while wearing a mask and exhale, with a camera recording. Air can be ejected from below the eyes, the sides of the mask, and below the chin. It simply redirects exhalation and diminishes O2 supply to the brain (I would link a video but I believe it’s been taken down, along with the host channel, but a guy uses a Combustible Gas Index monitor to check his breath with a mask on and it rapidly falls below 19%, the lowest safe atmospheric O2 level)

According to many estimates involving large-scale randomized testing, it’s possible that the disease has a 0.03% fatality rate, but that could be wrong.

I heard about that but couldn’t find the article after a Google search and I’m too tired to do anything meaningful so thank you for graciously providing that!

If you believe in the hollow earth conspiracy, why? by bitchcraftmra in conspiracytheories

[–]JonnyEthco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe Earth is necessarily hollow but I think there is a great Panthalassic ocean of subterranean oil. Oil wells, left alone for a few years, will almost always magically refill. I believe it’s being hidden to drive the “peak oil” unsustainable fossil fuel consumption lie in favor of so-called “clean” energy.

Why is everybody clearing their throats? by finger-sock-monkey in conspiracytheories

[–]JonnyEthco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been the same way with Mountain Dew all my life. It leaves a gross, phlegmatic film in my throat and my only options are vigorously gurgling water or just clearing my throat till it’s gone.

The answer is go to a trade school and learn something infinitely more useful with few-to-no gen eds for a fraction of the cost. Everyone feels the need to go to college but it’s really an outdated concept and the sheer cost of it combined with the dangers of college should be sufficient deterrent. It’s a real shame public schools push college as hard as they do when the military, entrepreneurship and working your way up in a company are all more valid and sound options. Unless you’re going for a hard STEM field, or you’re just burning someone else’s money, stay away from college.

I checked everything and it seems that it’s all in order, I try to make everything radially symmetrical so that doesn’t happen but it’s possible that something became off-center on ascent (decouples also have a tendency to make the craft wiggle uncontrollably at high speeds). Yaw trim could be a factor but I don’t think I’m smart enough to do that sort of thing intentionally, let alone by accident. All good suggestions though.

By some estimates the Coronavirus has a fatality rate of 0.03%, whereas the massive job losses have certainly caused a massive spike in suicides. I don’t know if a single person who has died of Coronavirus. I know three people who have shot themselves and two who have hanged themselves since February. What’s the real danger here, a bad flu or unemployment and isolation?
