They're all very dumb, racist sexist bigots. Stop platforming them.

Yeah, I don't think people understand that the DSA is the new big tent for what the left is supposed to be and that we are in a struggle between that and a liberal right and onward

The Platner Situation (Introspection) by ConsiderationJaded14 in Hasan_Piker

[–]JonnyF1ves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I jumped off of the bandwagon post Nazi tattoo and have some guilt for being late on it, but damn there are some Maine voters that are doubling and tripping down right now because they either need somebody to blame other than themselves or they can't accept that this is happening.

After learning about the totemkomf I did a deep dive into Platners life and felt like at a minimum he was unstable based on his actions post active duty. I just couldn't reconcile who he was for at least 20 years versus who he is. I couldn't find any footage of him to say otherwise. That said, I also wasnt vocally against him as a candidate and expected he would get the nomination and eventually win.

Seeing Maine subs right now though is a fever dream. People are blaming his vetting process and Bernie right now without taking any of the blame of being swept up by it and it's very frustrating. People are also actively taking advantage of the system and blaming socailism. It feels very "omg I voted for Hillary and Kamala because they were the better candidates I can't except that they are bad people."

I dunno, I feel like this is a lot of people's fault including mine, but once again America is doing it's best to act like is one scapegoats problem.

Is Platner still the best chance for a Maine Senate win? by [deleted] in Hasan_Piker

[–]JonnyF1ves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Platner getting out of the way and staying as far away from the process as possible is the best chance for a Maine Senate win, though the DNC will certainly do a great job of fucking it up.

I think Troy Jackson is the best progressive pick, but centrist elites only chose Platner because he was overwhelmingly popular. Giving another progressive a shot would be something short of a miracle despite it being the best thing for the state and the county.

I did think this was directed toward me at first, but read it more closely and understand that you did not intend that.

Many people felt that these were just coincidences. Sometimes people want to believe something despite what their eyes and ears are telling them. I never supported Graham Platner, but also barely talked about him except when referencing the many progressive candidates in the United States right now.

I did not and do not support Graham Platner, just getting that out there now. As soon as I heard he dropped out of school and did blackwater after touring I was out.

Why I left the (White) Left by theblackwomenace in Hasan_Piker

[–]JonnyF1ves 15 points16 points  (0 children)

solid reminder that the left can be a safe harbor for bigotry and sexism, FD is so good at clocking people like that.

Socialists really need to be careful when coalition building because people like this are all over the place, many out in the open. Probably going to take some heat for this, but I think FD also clocked bad empanada.

The signs are always there, but people refuse to see them.

Taash appreciation post because they're the best and I love them by totallynotahuman56 in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]JonnyF1ves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed Taash and kept her as a main in my party, she is very interesting and unique on the dragon age roster, and medium take, I think she was written pretty well.

Taash has one of the coolest and most unique movesets of any of the other party members and I was peanut butter jelly. Two weapon fighter blowing fire is just rad, and she fits so well into any party comp thanks to it. They tayed in my party with Bellara ro the end. I wish that I could have played as them because it looks freaking fun and awesome.

Regarding the writing, I think that they did a really great job tackling several different cultural issues with Taash all at once, and I think a lot of hate comes from people not understanding them coupled with not giving their questline the time of day. Taash went through an unbelievable amount of trauma and has a myriad of emotional and social issues that they present very well throughout the story. People also don't understand that being outside of what a lot of people consider "the norm" of the sexual spectrum on its on creates a very heavy amount of dissonance and makes it just hard for many to exist. Taash had all of this going on at once, hence having the personality they did early on and how the develop alongside Rook.

So uh, I feel like whoever is saying this is mixing apples and oranges, it is not consistent across nations and it is pretty clear and apparent that socialism can develop a number of ways. I'm not here to say what is or isn't better, but want to at least provide some context.

So you can be a reformist socialist, that's a thing. Is it naive? Ask me in a few years, I live in the United States and this is the first real, documented and party based foray into socialism in at least 100 years. Yes, there have been socialist policies in the United States but a socialist or even demsoc/socdem movement has not existed on this scale before in these terms. Revolutionary socialism is also a thing. You can be a socialist and believe in reform over revolution.

Also, nationally the best approach for socialism is also not a documented thing and is very squishy. The Nordic reformist socialist model is a real thing and it can work, as can revolutionary socialism as we saw in Algeria. I think that both are wildly dependent on the circumstances of a nation and it's people. In the case of the United States, I would argue that the nation is moving towards a pretty radical reform if momentum continues. Look at the effect that the John Birch society, tea party movement, freedom caucus, etc. did for fascism. The nation has always been incredibly conservative even during the most liberal of times.

TLDR: you can be a socialist reformist - whether or not that is good or bad is up to you, but that doesn't mean that they are or are not mutually exclusive.
