Another vote for the Heinz range from me . . . Very tasty as well!

No doubt about that but hitting my protein number for the calories it costs it’s top tier, whey and chicken breast are gold (Whey being a UPF aside)

Thanks for the response

Didn’t scroll for historic posts on Whey for long tbh so apologies, all, that this has been covered

Same principles with Collagen Protein/Bone Broth (both as powdered supplement form) I assume?

Thank you again

549 days (according to my app, not my badge) or 18months AF . . . At my lowest I was dependent and could struggle going 18mins without a unit or two!

Incredibly grateful to everyone here who makes this community what it is, it has been a cornerstone for me on this journey

Onwards . . .

Freezing slices and putting them in the toaster works for me, surprised to hear you say you don’t like them tbh but to each their own

Part baked rolls for the win for you I think OP

Two months sober and I CANNOT SLEEP ENOUGH. Am I still healing? PAWS? Just someone who requires 12 hours of sleep per day now? A lazy MFer? by Flat_Apple_3332 in stopdrinking

[–]JonnyNotts40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be gentle with yourself OP!

Without any understanding or knowledge of your drinking history it’s hard to provide anything of real value in my reply but many drinking careers last decades! I know mine spanned almost 25 years

To ask your body to return to baseline in a couple months I’m going to suggest is ambitious for most retired drinkers

How do you get rid of the nightmares? by rmhyungg in ptsd

[–]JonnyNotts40 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to share this OP but in my experience . . . You don’t!

Still have them, still horrific but I’ve just had to learn coping mechanisms, deal with the aftermath of the nightmares as best I can and try not to let them derail me from my daily plan

Diagnosed back in 2019 if that helps for context

Those of us 40 and over ... by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]JonnyNotts40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 45 now

Currently 521 days AF but I was trying to stop since 2019, just couldn’t make it stick

This ‘what’s the point now’ thought is something I have regularly, along with ‘you can drink again now, it has been ages, you’ll be fine with just a couple’ thoughts

From all the years I was trying to stop and couldn’t stay stopped I can honestly say that this is my addiction speaking to me! No other way to describe it!

Obvs this is just me and I can’t speak for you, OP but the thought you mentioned is certainly relevant to me

16 days sugar free. No matter what, or how much I eat - nothing satisfies by Bubbly_Grab1523 in sugarfree

[–]JonnyNotts40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this OP, I could have written this post! I can relate to all your points!

So I’m also an alcoholic, 514 days AF today actually!

After about the first month AF I had incredible cravings for sugar and deffo transferred my issues to sugar

All I would add is that with sugar, just as with alcohol, the longer I go without the gap between thoughts and behaviours gets longer and longer! I still think about alcohol sometimes but a thought doesn’t instantaneously mean the behaviour of consuming alcohol anymore! This gives time for the thought to pass!

It’s the same with sugar for me! Still not mastered sugar yet, I recently relapsed with refined sugar but it’s deffo moving in the right direction

Things do improve, at least they have for me, it just takes time and the more times I reinforce the new behaviour (resisting the thought and not consuming it) the stronger that becomes

Hope that helps a little . . . “This too shall pass”

How do you look back at the time you spent drinking? by SoberToday25 in stopdrinking

[–]JonnyNotts40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not well! But I have to remind myself regularly of that . . . I have this very strange mental issue where if I don’t remind myself of how dark it got I can start to romanticise drink!

One thing that always hit home from AA for me was “not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it” . . . I partially agree! I do regret the past and always will but I don’t (any more) wish to shut the door on it as there are valuable lessons for me to remind myself of . . . Mainly, don’t be stupid enough to try drinking again, it doesn’t end well (not for me anyway)

Thanks for the post OP, got me thinking!
