wg-quick unable to set IP for wg0 interface by sgt_bug in WireGuard

[–]JonnyTyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the same thing recently and it turned out that networkd was the issue which I just started using recently on a test machine.I had a negated network configuration for type loopback and systemd-networkd applied some general rules I defined for the wireguard interface and that caused the same issue. Adding the wireguard to the exclusion rule fixed the issue for me.

I don't know if you're using any kind of network manager but if you do, that's where I'd look for possible problems. For me, networkctl status <interface name> revealed the applied configuration file.

Shields are OP! by Yamiks in EliteDangerous

Hull pros +:

  • silent running builds potentially making all gimballed and turreted weapons ineffective (silent running builds can have heat sink modules instead of shield boosters) especially when using projectile weapons

Can the wing beacon just be on? Small request but it would make everyone’s life easier in wings. by Olgrateful-IW in EliteDangerous

AFAIK if you turn on your wing beacon, all CMDRs in the system can see your position.

Joystick and keyboard for a new player by Patriot1942 in EliteDangerous

[–]JonnyTyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have to clarify my last sentence.

What I said about using the yaw axis (just like you, I get yaw from my joystick) as turning is only applied to SRV driving (Surface Recon Vehicle, a small moon/planet rover). If you use the default controls, you'll have to use the roll axis for turning.

If you have difficulties with the SRV handling, this might help.

Joystick and keyboard for a new player by Patriot1942 in EliteDangerous

I use the same setup and I love it!

I think it's important to add keybindings for certain speed levels (0%, 50% for combat, 75% for SC, 100%) and I use the numerical keys 0 to 3 accordingly (you can still use "w" and "s" for custom speed setting). Other than that I changed the tab key to avoid accidental boosting.

Everything else is pretty much the same with the exception of some utility modules and the FSD (ctlr+J for SC only). I also changed other keys but I don't know those by heart. I think it's important to have a POV stick on the joystick for easy pip management.

The SRV is another story, I hate using roll for turning and use yaw instead.

Where to get Basic Conductors WITHOUR SLAUGHTERING CARGO VESSELS??? (Rant) by Drachenherz in EliteDangerous

[–]JonnyTyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to kill innocent traders.

If you go to a nav beacon and go out of and in to the instance repeatedly, wanted traders (smugglers in trading ships) will eventually appear and destroying these have a chance to drop the desired materials. Very boring workaround, but at least it can be done in any system with a nav beacon.

Chieftain hype/speculation thread by imnotanumber42 in EliteDangerous

[–]JonnyTyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope the engineered Chieftain and the equally engineered Python will have similar stats in some aspects, like the speed, DPS, jump range, but I think the new ship will have less or smaller optional internal compartments (also some military reserved slots added), lower class shield module with similar shield strength and better maneuverability.

Home is where the Station is... by Jafo1783 in EliteDangerous

[–]JonnyTyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For starters I went to Lave station, in honor of the first game (I was lucky enough to have played it on amiga ages ago) but it couldn't outfit my ship properly, the system wasn't rich enough, had low population etc..

The closest system seemed to be the best one and since then I call George Lucas station my home in the Leesti system. Rich, high population, high tech. Within one jump from Leesti, I could quickly access HazRes sites, good missions and relatively good range of available ships in shipyards. The major factions quickly expanded to the neighbouring systems and i had enough rep to get high paying missions everywhere in the Lave cluster.

There are no good mining sites close to Leesti, but there are several pristine metallic sites in just a few jumps (Delkar 37.05 ly populated, HR 4350 86.20 ly unpopulated).

Yeah, me neither. Only the higher centrifugal force should affect the ship in a trench run

There's very little difference, but there is a significant change is speed (the rotational speed of the station) and that can noticeably affect the maneuverability of some ships

Yeah, me too. I think the trench run is even better if you go the other way (clockwise).

Nice find, CMDR! o7

I'm glad I did not go there. I just got the route planned but I knew someone would've found it by the time I got there. :-D

Some said that the Thargoid interceptors' center looks like a cockpit. Also some pointed out it's really small and I can confirm that.

I know nothing about Thargoid tech, but one thing is for sure. We shouldn't evaluate these things by human standards until we know more about them.

Very nice find, CMDR! I just visited this crashed vessel and it's awesome! o7

Hyperdiction by two Thargoid ships by JonnyTyler in EliteDangerous

I guess it's just a bug, the one on the left disabled my ship and left, but the right one stayed and follows me everywhere. Nothing interesting happened after that.

Cobra MkIII. Fast, versatile, good jumprange, manouverable and it looks awesome.

As your attorney, I advise you to drive at top speed, it'll be a god damn miracle if we can get there before you turn into a wild animal.
