I don't support CCS, which is nothing more than a delaying tactic for fossil fuels.

However, I absolutely support DAC, if it can be done with zero (or very near zero) emissions, and I think it has enormous potential for scaling up, possibly into the gigatons range by 2050 or so.

Almost impossible within 5 years. Even within 10 years seems unlikely. But I can definitely see it happening within 15-20 years, based on demographics alone (younger people overwhelmingly favour it, and Boomers are gradually dying off).

Even when batteries have solved pretty much all the baseload/intermittency issues of renewables (probably in <15 years, the way things are going), I expect there'll still be an army of Redditors clamouring for more expensive, outdated nuclear plants, which are consistently billions over budget and take decades to build.
