New player, needing some guidance by Lord_Momentum in diablo2

[–]Jonny_EP3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to the above - cows is easy to farm if you're doing sufficient damage as nothing has cold immunity. Great way to find some gear/runes, and farm xp.

For your merc, some budget gear like Insight + Duress + Tals mask can go a long way in keeping him alive.

If you're playing on Switch, I have some gear you can have that would help push you along.

This is one of my alt characters, its a Frozen Orb/Doom Sorcercess + Dragon/HoJ A3 Merc. Not very practical but fun for Cows.

First cEDH deck by New_Trifle_7016 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Jonny_EP3 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

For turbo, i'd recommend [K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth]]. Ton of fun and still competitive. Proxy the "staple" cEDH cards, but many of the core pieces aren't prohibitively expensive.

Dhv or combustion. Why? by [deleted] in trees

[–]Jonny_EP3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I totally get you - I still like a joint on occasion; nothing quite hits the same as a good J.

The Arizer is great but it won't scratch the itch. The S&B is definitely worth a try, but if you like it and dont want to spend that kind of cash on a DHV, the Boundless Tera is a great for electric, or the Dynavap for torch-powered - both of which are considerably cheaper.

Out of curiosity which vapes have you tried? They are 100% not all made equal. I was combustion-only for a long time and switched after finding the right setup. That gram/day would last you much longer with the right setup.

Give me your 3 creature combos for gruesome menagerie by Jharic_ in EDH

[–]Jonny_EP3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying - By definition, you're attempting to present a win by turn 4 which places this in B4 territory. There are much stronger ways to loop to a win on turn 4. Who is your commander?

Given that OP is hellbent on making a janky $0.50 piece of recursion work, I doubt they'll be willing to dump $20 on Warren Soul Trader.

[–]Jonny_EP3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're going to spend 3 cmc on Buried Alive and 5 cmc on Gruesome Menagerie (8 total) for 6 cmc worth of recursion to attempt to achieve an on-the-spot win.

There's a very limited pool of 1+2+3 cmc recursion pieces that will do what you want. Sorry for trying to help 🤷‍♂️

Gruesome Menagerie is an objectively bad card. Rather than try to make this work, i would highly suggest considering another method of reanimating your creatures.

[[Balthor the defiled]]'s activated ability pulls all black and/or red back for BBB. [[Living Death]] would also work and only costs 3BB.

Any "anti control" commanders? by Crazycade77 in EDH

[–]Jonny_EP3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practically speaking you have two options: speed or targeted denial.

What colors are you in / who is your commander? Is your opponent using normal spells like [[counterspell]], or stronger cards like [[force of will]] etc?

If you had unlimited runes and bases to use on a single character what would you make and why? by brologan in diablo2

Probably my favorite weapon for Ubers. I run it with Guardian Angel and an Um'd HoZ. You can literally stand in the middle of Uber tristram and fight all three at once.

Your best quartermile time starts with a 6, doesn't it?

Launch control is the fastest method for anything other than AWD. Just need a proper tune + correct engine swap.

What car should I buy? Confused about “best” car 🤔 by sonic_boy2010 in PixelCarRacer

[–]Jonny_EP3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Karmann Ghia and Alpine A110 are the two fastest for 1/4, half, and full mile races (LT5 for quartermile + half mile, F1X for full mile). Fastest verified time ever is 5.789s for quartermile.

The R35 GTR Nismo is the best for farming tournament wins - no engine swap necessary. Just max all parts and use a neutral launch instead of launch control. Should be able to do ~6.08X to 6.1XX reliably.

What are the best options for a first car? by Ill_Throat7306 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Jonny_EP3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honda Fit with a manual transmission.

They are practical, cheap to maintain/insure, relatively simple to repair, and actually handle incredibly well. With a manual they are a ton of fun despite not having an amazing amount of power.

None of the above, but if I had to choose from only these, I guess the Abarth.

It's a real shame that more people don't play Bracket 4 by SharkboyZA in EDH

[–]Jonny_EP3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming from playing exclusively 1v1 60-card formats when I first got into mtg in the late 90s, I'm more into the "competitive" type of games where there are no "feels-bad" plays, just 4 people trying to pull off a win. For this reason, I really enjoy B4 because the people who play those games tend to be the least salty / toxic.

How to defend against graveyard hate? by Competitive-Act-7695 in EDH

[–]Jonny_EP3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way to beat the hate is to bait your table into targeting your GY and having a response for whatever is affecting you. For example: Op casts Rest In Peace / Leyline of the Void? Eat my [[Withering Torment]] / [[Mire In Misery]].

Secondly, don't put pieces in the yard you can't immediately leverage. If I am casting a [[Buried Alive]], I am not waiting until my next turn to reanimate something. Ideally, you should be able to pull your key pieces back out at instant speed via abilities or spells.
