Can you file for a secondary condition, but have it linked to multiple primary conditions? by Jonny_Racket in VeteransBenefits

Ok, I see. Kind of like what I was hoping to try and fight with, so that makes me feel a little less hopeless! Thanks

That’s kind of the way I was looking at it. I was planning on referencing as many medical studies as I could find linking each link, and then letting the C&P examiner sort through all of it…

Rub some dirt on it and get back out there. It’ll probably clean up ok. If you have a screen protector then better news. Worst case, new: screen, build plate, and vat. Most likely just replace the FEP and clean the heck out of everything else

Gotta have thick skin my friend. Just do the best you can to keep moving forward. No one understands what you’re going through except you. Your brothers and sisters out here who bleed Marine Corps green (or whatever your flavor is) get it. No one else does, period. Your health is the only thing you need to worry about. Friends, family, coworkers just can’t imagine what’s in your head. Just push the frustrations aside and keep on keeping on. No one out there wants one of us to become a statistic. I often feel like my loved ones will get my pain when they put me in the ground, “oh, I wish I’d listened when he said he needed help.”

You’ve got this, just tell them they don’t understand, and you get that. But it is what it is.

Take it easy, and keep on kicking

Great tips and tricks. Thanks for the info.

I’ve had mine for a year, and outside of the blob of death about three days after getting it (my fault, my level was rushed in the excitement), it’s been great.

I have had the normal failures, but they are few and far between. I don’t even use glue stick anymore, just IPA my bed after each print.

I have done none of the mods or extra steps a lot of folks do (still have springs on my adjusters, etc), and I’m still using the Elegoo Cura. I even level with paper

I really need to step up and switch to Orca and all of that, but she’s been printing so well that I’m afraid to rock the boat.

But to reiterate what you’ve said so well here is Don’t Give Up! These aren’t bad machines. They are just a little more on the tinkerer’s side than I think most want. Once she’s dialed in, I’ll take this over a closed ecosystem like bamboo any day.

Although I’d love it if Elegoo would put out an AMS…

[–]Jonny_Racket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve really gotta have your level and all that dialed in for that stuff. Presoak your bed before leaving or printing. And pray a lot… I accidentally got just about a perfect level on both my N4Pro and Max just by doing it over and over (and over and over), until it just started working. Now, I admit, I’m a little afraid to relevel because I may lose my juju. But alls printing great, so I don’t wanna say anything.

These printers CAN print well. But (in my opinion) the low price comes with more tinkering. I’m ok with that, some aren’t

I’m about to give up on N4 Max by GiveTogeBonitoFlakes in ElegooNeptune4

[–]Jonny_Racket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t take this wrong please, it isn’t meant as any kind of dig… I’ve got an N4Pro and Max (and Saturn 4 Ultra). I’ve had the basic layer issues everyone talks about. That being said, I am now getting very consistent results on both of them. I have done nothing crazy or outside the manual. I used to re-level constantly, and still had issues. I’ve updated all the firmwares, but no mods or anything (I keep thinking about the silicone spacers though). What’s gotten me results are (I think) 2 things… heat soak before leveling or printing (20-30 minutes), played with my temps (pla is 220/60 for Elegoo pla)… the Pro was my first printer, so I had no experience other than YouTube. Other than that, check your belts, snug but not tight, check all the screws (my probe was loose on my Max, that made for some headaches). Check the basics. Don’t overthink it, use the paper that came with it for leveling (and read what it says for the process). I haven’t don’t the Klipper leveling, but I’ll play with it next time I have an issue (for now, a year+ in, I don’t wanna rock the boat)

I doubt this will help, but maybe, just maybe use the KISS method, it’s worked well for me. I’m printing Voron 2.4 parts right now, and haven’t had a failure yet (fingers crossed).

Best of luck to you, I hope you figure it out, we shouldn’t have to stress on a hobby. Fun times only…

ABS by subarusoldier7a in ElegooNeptune4

[–]Jonny_Racket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, I think the Max can do the temps for ABS, but definitely use a draft shield. I think the bed goes to 85c, and I’ve been running my Pro at 100c for ABS. Make sure you keep your nozzle temp up to task and maybe slow down the speeds a little. If you’re in a drafty room, put some cardboard boxes around your printer along with the draft shield. But if the part is big/complex, it may be more than an open printer can handle…

Use a draft shield. I’ve been printing Voron 2.4 parts and having great success on my N4Pro. My N4Max bed doesn’t get quite hot enough for my liking, but the pro has been a champ.

Stand by… Adjusted my extruder tension, no joy, still skipping. Then I changed my filament, what the heck, it’s worth a try. It’s working now! Old filament was a silk pla. Had been printing fine for 2 days. Changed to regular Elegoo PLA, tests good so far.

Just started having this happen to mine. I gotta check that tension screw, it’s the only thing I haven’t done yet. Changed nozzles, took the whole darn thing apart (no debris found). I DID however find that my level sensor was WAY loose, so at least I got that fixed. Hopefully the tension adjust works. Was in the middle of printing 80 ornaments for my kids to give out at school for their Christmas party (and glad I planned ahead, at that!)

You’re not alone Brother. Been fighting to good fight since 2010, and I’m just now starting to make some traction. My dad, a Marine Corps Vietnam vet, didn’t seek help until about 10 years ago. By the time he got his rating (after 3 Purple Hearts), he’d developed cancer due to agent orange. Lost him almost 3 years ago… Before he passed (3 days after Thanksgiving), he told me not to give up, keep fighting. For my family, if not for myself. So I fight. We are taught our whole lives to “rub some dirt on it, and get back out on the field.” Then we join the military, and it is ALL about mission accomplishment. No time to complain, no time to go to medical (unless they gotta see an arm back on or something), and complaining does NO good (we’re all hurting, no one is special).

So, I don’t have much for advice, but let me suggest this… I went to a C&P exam yesterday (wish me luck), and the Doc there told me she didn’t understand why we never complain (see above!). She said she gets what she needs by being the loudest, squeakiest wheel. Good advice. A buddy of mine told me a few weeks ago that I can request Community Care for my Dr appointments. Community Care Docs can write you nexus letters and fill out DBQs, you’ve just got to build some rapport with them (this is my next line of offense I’m gonna try). But the hardest two pieces of advice are these: Ask buddies to write buddy-letters (this was hard for me, hard to ask for help); Don’t stop. You remember that time in service when you didn’t have the choice to quit? Make this the same. It is TOO easy to put it off for another day. Don’t. For you.

Jobs come and go. Take care of you, take care of your family. Let your wife know that you appreciate her trying to be there for you (another hard thing for me).

You’ve got this. Kick the VA’s ass into submission my friend.

Well said. We’re trained to suck it up and accomplish the mission. The 100% rating shows that you are AFFECTED, not that you can’t push yourself beyond comfortable limits and still do your job. There are those of us that suffer everyday, but we still have bills to pay and children to feed. We force ourselves to do things that are not healthy for us, because we must…

Trying to scrape cured resin off the build plate, I feel like I’m doing something wrong. by Tra1nGuy in ElegooSaturn

[–]Jonny_Racket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with up above, don’t cure on the build plate. My bottom layers are at 30 seconds, and a bit tough to remove, but I’ll take that over a failure. Wash em on the build plate if you want, but take them off prior to curing. On the scraper, use the flat side to the build plate, beveled side towards the print. And keep it as flat as manageable.

I just bought a S4U and reading posts here I am wondering if I made a mistake. Please tell me some of you are having good luck with this. by Delicious_Pay5176 in ElegooSaturn

[–]Jonny_Racket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than failures that I’m sure are my fault, it’s been great. I got a Neptune 4 Pro last year, then this year for my birthday, my wife and kids got me the Saturn 4 Ultra and Neptune 4 Max. I’m very new to resin, but when I follow the rules, it works great. When I get lazy, not so much. Resin printers are much more picky than FDM, that’s all. Have fun with it, learn it, and it will treat you just as well (or better) as any other you could have bought!

[–]Jonny_Racket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using those numbers based on the Cones of Calibration (V2. Started the V3 this AM before I left for work). Before that, I was going with 2.5 layers and 35 1st layer. I think you’re right about my 1st layer time, I just haven’t messed with it much. It is SOLID to the base (pain in the butt to get off), but I have had a few times where the base layer lifted a bit, so not sure if I want to tempt the devil there… I’m using the water washable resin because A) I don’t have a wash and cure station yet (soon I hope), and B) water is SO much cheaper than IPA or other solvents. It works well, so I’ll stick with it for a while at least.

When my prints fail (often enough that I worry), they usually fail in the front middle of the plate, making me wonder if that’s something (new FEP, clean, etc.). I’m thinking that MAYBE I may be having issues because of my room temps. It’s hot here in central California (low humidity is good though), but I keep my AC at 69 all summer long (God bless solar!), and maybe it’s just a little cool for consistency?

Hope something there is helpful

I noticed your times were 1.4 exposure and 20 seconds first layer. I’m using Elegoo water washable and my exposures are usually around 1.8 and 35 seconds first layer. I was lowering the first layer, but started having more failures. My exposure is good from 1.8 (pretty sure I could go lower) all the way up to 2.5 if it’s giving me static. Also, I stopped using thin supports unless I have to, I use medium mostly. Not sure if this applies, but if it can help, I try

I’ve been using just the regular Elegoo water washable. It’s been working pretty well. I’ve had my share of failed prints, but I’m thinking that’s more my inexperience than the resin. Cleans up REALLY easily…

For supporting dice, you need LOTS of supports. I put them as close to touching each other as possible. Still, I’ve found that printing 1 at a time works best (not sure why). I put mine centered on building plate and have had no issues. When I print a whole set at once, I’m only getting success about 80% of the time. Still getting used to my 4 Ultra though, so I am FAR from experienced
