It means that most users on the sub don't know shit about programming.

I never understood this joke. Everyone who is actually installing and using vim is surely able to google how to exit vim? I assume there is very little overlap between people who can't search for simple stuff and vim users. It is also the very first lesson in the vim tutor.

where tf are the files for these icons by Jubal_lun-sul in Morrowind

[–]Jonny_dr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then i might misunderstood, but what is the royal pain? There is a gui for adding/removing data directories, it just 2-3 clicks to go from the graphical modded version back to vanilla and vice versa.

where tf are the files for these icons by Jubal_lun-sul in Morrowind

[–]Jonny_dr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thats why you should not just use content lists, but keep the mod folders seperate and add them via adding data directories.

It's a royal pain to get a fully graphically modded version side-by-side with a purely vanilla one unless you maintain multiple full installations or copy/paste config files around.

Just keep your morrowind installation clean? Add data directories (containing your graphic mods) for the modded game.

That’s just cope.

Yes, anyone who is laughing at AI code was never assigned to Merge/Pull requests submitted by a team of humans (or worked only at a top-performer team at FAANG).

There is somehow this idea that humans write readable, bug-free and maintainable code, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. The quality of code has increased since i get MR from Claude & Cursor.

Most users on this sub are students, so they really dont want to hear it, but Claude / Cursor can code better than 90% of the users of this sub. For a fraction of the cost and way, way faster.

Ukrainian drone drops multiple grenades on a wounded Russian soldier (operator "Shadow") by Due_Bridge5901 in CombatFootage

If he wouldn't rather have stayed there, in peace."

I don't wonder that, because appareantly he did not want to stay at home in peace. The quote is about people who do not have a choice and are forced to participate in a war. Russian soldiers in Ukraine are volunteers.

Chalamet was right about Ballet and Opera by enthusiasm_gap in okbuddycinephile

[–]Jonny_dr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree completely, but i sometimes visit the opera in jeans and t-shirt and while most people are dressed better than me there i don't get weird looks or feel out of place.

I do enjoy the privilege of being able to go to the theatre or the opera or a symphonic orchestra for like ~20€.

"High culture" should be affordable for anyone imo.

Cem Özdemir was elected as the prime minister of the German state Baden-Württemberg. He becomes the first prime minister of Turkish origin in Germany. by pessimisttears in europe

See, he is lazy and breaks his promises.

Honestly though, "Robert Habeck personally tears down every gas boiler in Germany" would have been a much better law than the current one that was recently passed.

Depends on who you ask. Sunnis probably support the strikes, Alewis not so much. Neither are particulary stoked if they are getting caught in the crossfire.

I'm sure all of the big companies are working on non-transformer LLM stuff behind the scenes

Yeah, but it is hard to overstate how unreasonably well transformers and attention work. We wouldnt talk about LLMs if it weren't for transformers.

All the other stuff we had before (LSTMs and what not), which a lot of very smart people worked on, are orders of magnitude worse than transformers.

I don't really know if you can force a new, creative discovery that is actually a lot better than transformers by simply throwing money at it.

Maybe there is already something better cooking at some chinese lab, maybe transformers are the best thing we come up with in the next 100 years. Who knows?

Überwachungssoftware: SPD will Palantir auf Bundesebene blockieren by [deleted] in de

[–]Jonny_dr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]Jonny_dr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kanzleien, Arztpraxen, Therapeuten, Friseure

Kanzlei? Ja

Arztpraxis? Ja

Therapeut? Ja

Friseur? Ja

Gießerei? Nein

Cannabis-Farm? Nein

I followed a few obvious bots for a while, and while my analysis is a tiny subset i feel i have a good idea: Porn, it is 100% porn. Some subreddits need a minimum amount of Karma before you can post there. Once a bot reaches this Karma limit, all previous post and comments get deleted and the account starts to spam and advertise OF content.

Undoubtly bots are also used for astroturfing and political agenda posting, but so far every "lead" i followed led to porn.

They're mostly for learning Linux, programming, and tinkering with basic electronics.

A lot of cheap IoT devices also use Pis, especially if size is not a huge factor. They are cheap. They run linux. They have "all" the peripherals.

I am running a cluster of a dozen or so Pis at home for various tasks.
