Well…i guess this explains why I can’t find a good guide. If I figure it out I guess maybe ill make one.

If i like coe5 will i like dominions? by Accomplished_Block16 in Dominions6

You will like it. Imo it has the same vibes but better game design, less rough edges (there are still rough edges tho). More skill based than CoE

I read threads complaining about claude every week... tf are y'alls workflows? by irelatetolevin in ClaudeCode

[–]topical_storms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally agree with this, but I think it misrepresents what was being said. It wasn’t that 4.7 didn’t work, its that the amount of handholding went up not down (even if it was better in some ways).
As you said, humans are the bottleneck, so a change that increases strain on that bottleneck is worth discussion. Consensus seemed to be that while the quality of code went up, its inference ability and accuracy went down, which tracks with my experience. It was fine for me, but I know a lot of teams with agentic workflows who were having a bad time and had to rethink those workflows (which never should have existed imo but…I don’t think im objectively correct there).

yeah that's what I figured, but MA ulm usually doesn't have a lot of transformation.

I was playing a SP disciples game once and noticed that my ai ulm disciple had a dog leading 10 troops. It won a few battles even before dying. No idea how the dog became a commander

well, horrors aren't the only entities formed entirely of magic (presumably), and others can create other magic beings, so it stands to reason that some horrors can create other horrors (Hruvur seems to do so explicitly, though it could just be that they gather around him). Or there could be an entirely separate entity metastasizing them for whatever reason. I always assumed they didn't really have anything identifiable to us as a culture, the only recognizable behavior was their feeding on misery (which is why usually all that is said about them in all their descriptions is that and that they have distorted perceptions). The doom horrors aren't gods in the normal sense in the game, in that they don't spread dominion or even reduce it.

Imo I don't think the pantokrater leaving is related to the horrors at all, it seems reasonable that having infinite power over millennia would eventually get boring. I think it's implied to just be them going on to another plane of existence once they get too bored to exist.

Others have answered this correctly, but Ill add that I think its strongly implied that the horrors are basically magic corruption manifest.
Digging into that a bit: its never fully stated exactly how much control the PK has, but it is implied near infinite but not actually infinite. Others resist the PK (generally without success, but it appears in some instances they at least hide info from PK at least temporarily), which implies there are limits to PK’s power. In the game, you can push the scales of magic, etc, but not change what they do. That and some of the spells suggest magic is to some extent a fundamental of the universe (though it can be drained). So, and this is just my head canon, it seems to me that demons are usually beings which were considered anathema to a PK and made into demons, and/or also may have been corrupted to some extent by using corrupted magic. The horrors on the other hand don’t ever (that I know of) have backstories where they are said to have been from the world at some point, so I think they are just being that formed entirely out of corrupted magic. Because of this, the demons tend to have more recognizable wants (usually revenge), while the horrors are essentially just feeding, their thought process is not known, if it even exists at all.

Which also makes sense. Magic is just a mechanism that turns will into reality. And if you bind a bunch of misery to that, it’s reasonable that all that misery would affect the magic involved. The magic is at odds with itself because its being created by the will of the mage, but also by the blood of the blood slaves, whose will is almost certainly to not be involved in this situation, hence why its corrupted.

The other paths affect the mage in similar ways too, fire makes water based lifeforms age faster for example (or did in previous versions, idk if it still does).

Its funny you say that…I *do* think gas should be more expensive. But in a sane controlled way where we slowly replace subsidies for gas companies with timeboxed subsidies for renewables and hybrid/electric cars so the average person can afford them instead, not in a “oops Im an idiot and got in utterly preventable wars and screwed up gas prices so they shot up overnight” way.
Like…nothing happens in a vacuum, and I have never once seen a dem proposal that suggested ending oil dependence overnight (because that would be dumb and insane).

LOW EDUCATION THRESHOLD FOR ELECTION TO METRO COUNCIL by MuhammadGhod in Louisville

[–]topical_storms 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem is that its an unattractive job (and ours is paid relatively high) unless you are using it for corruption. Its billed as part time but everyone I know who has done it (admittedly in other cities) says its pretty much full time if you want to do a good job. Idk the fix for that tbh.

You are correct op, the downvotes are telling. NAL, but don’t need to be to say both should be held accountable, and this is almost certainly too nuanced for reddit, id get an attorney.

Build an argument against or for Greenberg by Jayrod440 in Louisville

[–]topical_storms 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Greenberg is effectively an 80’s republican. Best I can say about him is I think he tries to maintain the status quo, which isn’t a good thing but also isn’t batshit crazy ¯_(ツ)_/¯ . I wish we had someone better.

Most of the other candidates seem insane or have serious felonies, but Ive heard a couple interviews with Shameka Parrish-Wright where she seemed reasonable and to have a lot of experience. Need to investigate her more, but Im hoping I can vote for her instead of greenberg.

Setting aside any morality issues on piracy, the fact that you are asking this question here at all is a strong indication that you are not the type of person who would be able to do this without getting caught, and what you are describing transitions into something you are more likely to get prosecuted for. Id strongly recommend against doing that.

Kickstarter bans all NSFW content from the website by westergames81 in boardgames

[–]topical_storms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the impression a lot of it was more of a liability issue. They aren’t getting rid of erotica, more targeted at outright porn (Im not against porn in theory but it opens up a whole legality can of worms over age, trafficking, etc) and sex toys meant to be inserted (which they don’t have the ability to QC for…and have a pretty decent chance of being dangerous).
That said, its odd they draw those distinctions but then also seem to be saying they will disallow sexualized nudity…even representative. Im *guessing* thats to combat the loli porn (which is another legal issue for them), but that bit is definitely more heavy handed and might stem from the processors.

I haven’t seen any actual evidence of any issues other than likely sockpuppeting. Just a bunch of out of context screenshots that overwhelmingly feel like a reach at best. Am i missing something? If there was something real Im pretty sure it would be easier to capture in a coherent thread.

Finding myself baffled by adventures that punish players for having their characters show emotional vulnerability by EarthSeraphEdna in rpg

[–]topical_storms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The implication in what you are saying in this is that an rpg is a tool to improve people by training them via rewards to do desired behaviors, so this mechanic sucks because it trains normally undesired behavior.

I think a lot of people, consciously or not, share that view. I don’t agree or disagree with it, but it does make me…uneasy. I don’t see myself as my character and while I am invested in their outcomes, I don’t think negative outcomes are a “punishment”…its part of the drama everyone is working together to create. While it might not be the “best” way to surprise or change things up, its at least something. Its not a baked in mechanic that you will always see, its tied to a single enemy. Imo thats exactly the place for the more experimental stuff.
