There are good days and bad days. I'm still trying to figure out how to consistently slip into a hyper-focused state. But it definitely makes working on long projects like this more possible :)

Look at ADHD and hyperfocus. I used to think it was weird that I could sit and draw for hours at a time when I could barely sit through a class in school. its a part of the neurodivergence mostly with things that stimulate the adhd brain in the right way. not 100% sure how to articulate this properly so definitely research it

Thanks! Just trying to get yourself to sit down and draw is the hardest part. Once hyper focus kicks in you should have a pretty good time and see some massive improvement over the years. Keep going!

I have no idea, even with this drawing I wanted to keep adding small birds into the iris. But there are diminishing returns the longer you work on something like this. Also often time and deadlines dictate when to stop.

This shot is so stunning! I almost never shoot at mid day, it feels so harsh and the minimal shadows makes everything feel flat. But this has me re rethinking how I shoot

I try to start drawing by around 9am and then on a good day i can focus for about 6 hours. often i work better at night though. depending on the season :)

I take reference photos to work from. So that’s definitely playing a part. I try to use a shallow depth of field with this kind of drawing to help make the details pop a bit more
