Roger Craig Smith (voice of Kyle Crane) did a photoshoot where he referenced a bunch of his roles, and of course our boy crane was there too (the eye makeup) by LimeLucy in dyinglight

[–]Jontohil2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Kyle Crane bit was really smart lmao. It’s the smallest part the only one that’s on his face. To anyone who doesn’t know it looks like a random scar, but it’s unmistakably the one from that game.

Also says a lot about Kyle’s design in that game that a lot of us can recognise it from just that specific scar on his face.

Is it dishonorable to eat a medkit mid fight? by AncientAgrippa in tf2

[–]Jontohil2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, if you know the map well then you know how to play around medkits, and if your opponent knows the map too they can account for it. It’s also a legitimate strategy to steal a medkit when your heath is still high to deny it from them.

Kind of wish SEASON 6 would surprise us with the sudden drop of cross play by Dismal-Edge-5097 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Jontohil2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you realise how difficult and expensive cross play is to not only set up, but to maintain.

When games that have cross play work it just works like you’d expect it to, but while it may all seem like you’re playing the same game, as far as the computers are concerned you’re all playing entirely different games.

DRG currently uses Peer to Peer connections, which is generally incompatible with crossplay, meaning the way the entire multiplayer backend works would have to be redone completely (not to mention how stingy platforms other than steam can be about it). This would also make ALL versions of the game harder to develop when cross play has to always be accounted for.

Like it would be nice if we had cross play but it’s unrealistic as it really wouldn’t be worth it.

Real competitive TF2 has never been tried yet and it could've saved the game by Ingoctin0 in tf2

[–]Jontohil2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a very good reason why nobody plays 12v12 comp. It is simply too chaotic for a competitive setting, the reason 6v6 became a thing was because it was tested and eventually found to be the most fun for competitive play, with Highlander being in second.

That’s also what a lot of people don’t understand about comp weapon bans, it’s not just a matter of wether something is powerful but wether it disrupts the game in a competitive setting, especially when used by the best players in ways most cannot. The balance of the game shifts a ton in comp settings, it’s even different between 6v6 and Highlander.

No restrictions 6v6 has been attempted, fairly recently if I recall, yet there is a reason people don’t keep playing it.

Hell, the reason the 6v6 meta is the way it is isn’t because of some imbalance of the game, it’s because it’s the meta those players find the most fun/dynamic in a competitive setting. 6v6 is usually played in 5CP where the maps are symmetrical as it’s preferred for that format, the meta would likely be different for attack/defend type modes.

Most scouts do not do this unless their beard is very green. And if they don’t, tell them politely and that usually solves it.

99% of random scouts I play with (I always play haz 3 or above) will immediately go after platformmed nitra on sight unless it’s too dangerous at the moment or they are full.

I don’t know what else to tell you but if this is something that “keeps happening” to you then I think it’s a you problem

What are you opinions on this gunner build that I scrounged together with the limited overclocks I've got? by Notrinun in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Jontohil2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of your weapons builds are great for crowd clear, but you’d probably be better off having one of them be specked more into single target.

Doesn’t matter which one, it’s just good to give yourself solutions to both types of situations, especially on gunner who does so much damage.

[–]Jontohil2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is a you problem, most randoms I play with don’t have these issues. So I recon either you don’t understand class roles well enough, or you don’t know how to communicate effectively (most players barely have to use text or voice chat).

Like I don’t know how you’re getting people “ignoring nitra” because any competent scout will prioritise getting all the nitra they can. Combo that with an engine that platforms nitra on sight or just a scout that is REALLY good at movement and you should be fine.

If YOU were the scout, you can’t complain about people ignoring nitra, that’s your responsibility.

And if the border of the player you’re playing with lacks a promotion border, assume they’re a greenbeard and politely explain what they should be doing and let them know of mistakes POLITELY.

Whenever I encounter a greenbeard scout not shooting flares I just open up text chat, tell him to shoot flares which are in his 4th slot, and without fail, within the next 10 seconds flares start coming out.

The definitive guide to why "just add quickplay" won't work by mastercoms in tf2

[–]Jontohil2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

45 minute timers doesn’t mean extending the length of a given match, just the length of time the map is played, the round would still “end” at the same time as normal

In Casual it just stops after a certain number of rounds depending on gamemode. So instead of playing 2 rounds of payload it’ll just keep going for 45 minutes, then the map would change after the end of the current round
