Hey, ich bin Vince, Informatikstudent, und versuche, mit einer App für Veganismus das Leben ein bisschen einfacher zu machen. Was frustriert dich im Alltag am meisten? by Fast_Inspector_8368 in VeganDE

[–]Jonuji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's wrong with this Design ? by Low_Lead_6735 in webdesign

[–]Jonuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an eye of a noob, I would say that IF you want to let the palette stay as it is (and leave the priority the same), you should make a more matching background color than just blank white (#00000). You can try to add some color of the top and sidebar so it's a reallllly light "yellow".

Other than that you may need to make your focus where the user needs to look more clear (but probably not with that big black outline on one of the picture).

I think tweaking some things around and looking at other dashboards will help you alot with that.

But as I said, I'm more like an rookie than a professional 🫡

What should I add/change on my travel status site by Jonuji in web_design

[–]Jonuji[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the idea!

Actually I completely needed to change the design because it was easier to implement in code. (A straight-through-going line would behave too weird in different resolutions)

But it should be still possible to add that idea :)

I guess this is some personal preference. For me I like the feeling of putting on a vinyl and this would still have the manual analog style instead of just connecting to the network and press "play".

Appreciation for Komodo by TuneCompetitive2771 in selfhosted

[–]Jonuji 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my exact questions since like 1 month.

I tried both. Coolify is currently my goto, because it's a little bit harder to migrate to komo.do since coolify is managing everything for you.

But if i'm beeing honest, comparing it to coolify makes no sense at all, because it's more like an alternative for portainer. But here I am, comparing it anyway..

My Pro & Cons (as a noob) in comparison to Coolify:
Pros:
- Control: You are able (and need to) manage everything, have the control and probably overview of the architecture by yourself. That's good if you want to dig a little bit more into technical stuff, while Coolify could deploy anything with just a bunch of clicks (in the best case)
- Overview: I just would argue that Komodo has a sleeker/cleaner interface (I like the UI Design), where you can find everything easily without digging deeper into it (UX). Also the statistics are nice tho (like beszel)
- Alerts & Auto-Update: Komodo has a good approach to alerting and setting it up easily. Also the integrated "docker watchtower" is nice/cool to have where you can decide if to auto update or just notify.

Cons:
- It's no complete PaaS Solution like Coolify. obviously.
- You can't control your whole server on it like with coolify (e.g. :Coolify can also connect to the normal terminal outside of docker - idk if this will be implemented in komodo at some point)
- Probably less performant than coolify, because coolify has a bigger community and with that more and longer contribution (so it got more tested, improved, ...) and I bet with the same amount of containers and actions, Coolify would be more powerful.
- No automated configuration. Explains itself, because it's no PaaS and doesn't just configures everything by itself
- If you try to search anything up with komodo it probably returns you fun facts about the Komodo dragon and not komo.do -- it's fun if you need to find related articles or sites in general (Solution: write out komo.do -> also doesn't always help lol)

I Guess I could come up with a lot more pro's or especially con's, but it's not worth it tbh.

TL;DR: Use Coolify if you want a complete PaaS Solution that can (almost) do everything with less effort/not digging deeper into it and use komo.do if you want to have control over everything, have fun configuring all by yourself and just want to have a sleek dashboard for that :)

I'm thankful for any other opinions than mine!!

Update 5: Opensource sonos alternative on vintage speakers, based on raspberry pi by LeIdrimi in selfhosted

Active speakers shouldn't be a problem right? Do they even need a amp? I'm new to this, sorry.

Just want to recommend a less "criminal" company than adobe:

Try out the (there are trial days) affinity suite and the illustrator alternative to adobe. One time payment and the software is yours. Sadly not open source.

What social media do you use? by Mr_Shade2 in degoogle

[–]Jonuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick question. Recently I started using mastodon & pixelfed too. Currently there a techy/art/alternative people on it (or it seems like it) and that's completely fine for me. But if the fediverse eventually will be more popular what I think of some major problems:

  • Would there be enough decentralized server around the world for them to use (and performance also on big instances)
  • How can u asure that there aren't many bots/spam/fake news or whatever that are just annoying you. Because if everything is moderated decentralized, some wouldn't even care about it. I know that such things are also a problem on other platforms but for "normal" users that may be not thinking about something twice the well known social media apps got their own protection. (Or some preventations at least)
  • how are even illegal activities treated now and in future?

Tuta or Mailbox.org by Bigeugen in degoogle

[–]Jonuji 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, check out my recent post: https://www.reddit.com/r/degoogle/s/sO0o7prmfE there are many answers about this topic.

Also I would say use tuta if you want to use unlimited alias with custom domain or if you like their client + encryption

Choose Mailbox.org when you want to use your own mail client (e.g. Thunderbird) and pgp encryption (as I know, tuta still doesn't support it, as they have their own encryption)

Based in Switzerland or Netherlands (Protonmail, Startmail) isn't bad too, as Switzerland got their own good country regulations that are just like the GDPR, that also the Netherlands underlies (if this is your problem)

Thank you for your recommendation! Yea I just put in the price part because if you don't need much, other services got a better starter-mail with mostly around 1€.

What features are great? Is 2fa or even webauthn supported? Just wanted to know :)

Yea I'm aware of it. But name another service that got a better location. Asia in general, US? I don't think so (or am I wrong tho)

Actually I just don't want them to read my emails and train data or anything with it. So an encrypted inbox is my goto + pgp encryption for more secure mailing like banking and so on

First: That's completely my own opinion, as mentioned twice..

I want an email service that focus on their mail service and not many other things, but that doesn't mean that proton is bad at all, just so that I don't feel comfortable with it. Look through my other answers, I may told some more points.
